I got the new box set of Superman The Animated Series
I got the set this past Tuesday, all three seasons for 40 bucks. The series so far, is on par with the JLA/JLU seasons, and the episodes with Mr. Myklplk had me laughing my ass off.

My only complaint is a gripe I've had ever since I've been reading Supes(mid-late 80's). Its the powering down of Superman...I know, I know, I'm a huge superman freak, but the animated series/JLA set has me scratching my head.

In the animated series, he actually, DODGES damn bullets so he doesn't get hurt, he gets hurt by electricity, he has a hard time picking up a simple helicopter...its so damn bad I'm actually worried that Superman in this set, has the same strength of Spiderman(times 2)...

I cannot express, or explain how many times I've told other comic book geeks/heads how weak Superman is...Let me explain.

Many of my comic book friends think of Superman as this all powerful, nothing can hurt him(except Kryptonite) superhero, and I'm constantly in a position of defending him because of well, ignorance.

Superman, since I've been reading him, has never been an all powerful super duper being that totally destroyed all the foes/enemies that crossed his path. As a matter of damn fact, most enemies/foes kick the hell out him, before he figures out some way to win.

As a matter of fact, the strongest I've seen Superman is in Silver Age, and Live Action(CR movies), but the Silver Age was decades ago, and I'm at a loss of why comic book folk think Supes is so "powerful" nowadays.

I have never seen Superman so powerful, or omnipresent in any medium(except Silver Age), and it baffles me why every incarnation of him(smallville, JLA/JLU/Animated Series/Superman Returns) has the aspect of "powering him down" as a huge pin point of their storyline.

I'm a huge, HUGH Superman fan, and I have never read, nor seen a comic in almost 25yrs in which he is this "supposed baddass", so why all the static that he is too powerful, and why is he always powered down so DAMN much?
