Totalgym

I said don't laugh! :P ;-)

Why, you ask?

Because I am looking for a strength training method I can manage. I can spend all the time I want on aerobic activity. But, for medical reasons, serious time with weights is not recommended for me. You can imagine that's not enough to engage the weight loss factor. However, I can see that more isometric (do they still use that term anymore?) conditioning might be useful for me. The totalgym does this because you use your own weight.

I got on this subject, because on the way home this afternoon, I stopped by the used sports equipment store. Love that place! B-)

Anyway, they had http://www.amazon.com/Total-Gym-C13300-4-1700-Club/dp/B0001IVN48/ref=pd_sim_dbs_sg_title_5">this model on sale for $339. (new, not used)

I tried it out for a few minutes and I felt like I was definitely hauling my own ass. :P I'm sure my arms wll be sore tomorrow. It seems well constructed and not very many parts that could need repair (the store offers in home repair.) It seems to be a solid rowing bench, which is the closest thing I can compare it to.

My question is, have you tried it, is it useful? A good investment?

Opinions anyone?

1. Big question here is
Are you gonna use it? If you're gonna use it, it's a good value. If not, it isn't.

As for its specific merits as a piece of exercise equipment, that I could not tell you

If you do buy it, post when you work out with it. Keep us updated on how it works <-- me motivating you

2. Yes, I would use it
It's easy enough to learn proper technique on the thing. And I like that it's a full body workout, not just spot training certain areas.

I need to save up the money for it however.
