I read in guide that Baltimore Orioles are common
in my area (NC Mtns). I live on the southern boundary of where they summer. The Orchard Orioles also summer here.

I also read that they winter in the tropics.

I was thinking now would be a super time to catch one in passing as they migrate.

I read they like worms and fruit. I'd really love to see one.

Any ideas on how to make my house a stop on their path, or does that stuff just happen?

:hi:

1. They sell oriole feeders at the store
It might be a little late to catch them during migration, but next spring you should get an oriole feeder and put it out.

If you already have bird feeders out, adding orange halves might attract orioles, but I've never seen it working in a yard that wasn't already "birdy."

3. you might have a few lingerers, but yeah, I'd try next year.
Look up ways to make your yard birdier, put out some oriole feeders, and see what happens!
