Poll question: Best Music Magazine?

I've liked Alternative Press the best, but it's
a little young for me now -- target is the 13-34
demo I think.

1. I still like Rolling Stone
In spite of their idiotic penchant for placing the latest flavor-of-the-month girlie-girl poptart scantily clad on the cover. That pisses me off, but I really do enjoy the writing in that magazine...both music articles and the political/current events stuff. I've actually been a RS reader since I was about 7 years old...my mom had a subscription throughout my childhood and I used to read every issue. Weird, I guess, but I was an unusual kid, and I've always loved music. And hey, I think I have my RS education to thank for the fact that I can kick major ass at Rock and Roll Jeopardy!! :-)

Oh, and I also like AP, although I haven't read it so much the past couple years, probably for the very reason you pointed out.

I think Spin's gone downhill over the years. I subscribed to it for a long time, but I let my subscription lapse this past year because it has been boring me so much lately.

Anyone remember Creem magazine? I used to read that in the early/mid 90's when I was in high school, but I haven't seen it in quite a while. That was a pretty cool music mag if I remember correctly.

Man, did that rag take the piss out of rock icons. Their photo captions were the best.

Plus, except for Rolling Stone, they were just about the ONLY media focused on popular music in the early 80s.

Which reminds me...Trouser Press, a VERY close second. www.trouserpress.com

4. My personal favorite is Revolver
but that's specific to metal and heavy music.

I do enjoy Rolling Stone, and I like Q as well. I too grew out of Alternative Press.

Online, Pitchfork Media is one of the best sites, I think.

Does Chunklet count as a music magazine? if so, then that's my absolute favorite.
