2nd bathroom update completed.
Two down, one to go!

Here is the before.

and after

The only thing, I think the vanity top is too shiny after all the distressing I did on the vanity cabinet. It is cultured marble. If I rubbed it with steel wool, would that give it a more matt finish, or just completely ruin it?

That looks great. I love the color on the walls (I really, really like deep, bold, rich colors. Some people like color. I like COLOR.)

About the vanity top ....... you guessed right. If you go at it with steel wool, you'll ruin it. The surface is quite thin and can't take that abuse. Howver, you might try something gentler .... like scouring powder ..... and just wash it down gently with that. That will take the shine off, but should be gentle enough not to wear through the surface.

That said, I have NO experience with this and don't know for sure. I **do** know that we have a cultured marble sink/vanity in our first floor powder room. Our housecleaning lady was shown the right stuff to use on it. Much to our chagrin, she was using scouring powder. It is now dull but seems otherwise okay. A shine with fiberglass polish keeps it looking good.

2. I will try the scouring powder on a corner, see how it looks.
I wish I had the $$$ for real marble, but the vanity is an odd size, so I would have to have it custom cut, which really ups the cost. Another thing I contemplated was making a wood counter top, distressing it to match the vanity and then sealing the bejesus out of it with urethane. Oh well, I will see how the scouring of the cultured vanity goes first.

I *love* the color. The nice thing about powder rooms, you don't spend much time there so something that would seem too dark or bright normally seems just right for the 3-1/2 minutes you average in the room.

3. i think it looks great! but I have been warned that ammonia or bleach
will dull a gelcoat finish like that

is it cultured marble or what?

either way, is that GRAY??? OMG where did you get that idea

it really looks great I think and I wouldn't worry about the shiny counter ;)

5. That framed mirror looks way better than the original.
