The Lama Temple - Beijing PRC
Edited on Sun Apr-04-10 07:28 PM by Xipe Totec
Prayers:

The giant Budha (a forbidden photo)
Taken blind, while holding the camera at waist level, pointing straight up. No flash.
Notice the floor on the background; that's the third floor...

1. Beautiful.
And I love how the sunlight is spilling in with the worshipers. Like they are carrying it in with them. :hi:

4. Both of these stun me.
The first emotionally shows the response of the people and the spirit of the temple, and the second just amazes me.
I have a photo myself of a place that is forbidden to photograph. And when I look at it I feel pride for having it and guilt for stealing it.
Photo number two is overwhelming to me.
Thanks!

5. Thanks! Here are three successive shots of an incense offering
Edited on Mon Apr-05-10 07:54 PM by Xipe Totec
Which, coincidentally, are offered to Buddha in sets of three:

The smell of incence wafts from the temple and permeates the entire area, even the underground subway station four blocks away.

6. Temples are so beautiful aren't they?
It's like stepping into another world, so quiet and serene despite all the crowds. I took a forbidden photo of a goddess once, before I saw the sign saying not to. I deleted it and apologized to her. Maybe I'm more superstitious. lol

7. Fantastic photos!
I especially like the second one. There's just something about the way the lines of the cloth lead your eyes to the face of the statue.

9. Really beautiful
That second one is a real winner.

I, too, confess to sneaking a forbidden photo (or two).
