Happy Accidents
Face it! Sometimes, no matter how much skill or education, we screw up. But sometimes, what is obviously a technical failure, turns out to be sort of beautiful in an abstract way.

Here is KC Nights. Taken atop the Hyatt Regency in their Skies Restaurant. No tripod obviously, but I still love it.

This one, taken during the 1992 Presidential campain in Independence Mo. is a little less my fault. Big Dog was so mauled here that day, the streets so crowded, that when I caught this boy, I got bumped by another person, but it's charming, and I don't know really why I like it. I just do. I call it 'Shakin4Bill'

Got any mistakes you just love anyway?

7. Not only is she very pretty and single (no ring)
She knows how to knit. If she ever comes down to Miami, she has a tour guide.

It actually took me a little bit to get it.
You know me from the Pet Forum, I was looking at the kittens.

thanks, yes BOTH of my mistakes are knockouts! LOL. I had them young, at 21 & 24, and they are my best buddies. Besides my kitties of course.

Nice to see Bug and Maggie enjoying themselves!

5. Too blurry
If I could take this one again, I would have the ISO set at 400 instead of 200. I don't mind a little blur, but I wish her facial expression was sharper.
This was taken during a fundraiser marathon in Miami a few months back.

12. I Get Those
A friend's daughter, who happened to get up and move from the plane of focus just as I was shooting.

It taught me that sharp focus of the subject can be overrated:

21. All too often, my best pictures are...
...mistakes.

Here's a shot I like a lot. I originally intended to hold the camera steady and, using a slow shutter speed, blur the pitcher
to give the impression of action. Just as I pushed the shutter release, someone bumped my elbow and the camera followed
the pitcher's back and blurred the background. It is now one of my favorites. This is the first (and only) time I will admit the truth
about this picture.

...and, had I seen it without reading your "confession," I would have assumed it was the work of a top sports photographer who somehow found the way to get that effect.

24. That is perfect!
The one eye in focus gives the viewer the personhood of the subject and the swirl the action which is so familiar to all dog-blessed humans everywhere.

And a cute pup! Got one of them in yellow myself (I think) so I'm all too familiar with that water spray act. Awesome job capturing it - even if it was a "mistake". :)

29. Cute pup?
Maybe. But he was the dog from hell! We got him full grown form the pound. Ben could escape any attempt to restrain him: cage, chain, dog run. The dog officer had our phone number memorized, she used to call me at work and say, "I've got Houdini again." Tried leaving him in the apartment during the day, and he ate through the door. He did have the sweetest disposition, but he absolutely could not bear to be alone and/or retrained.

We finally had to give him to our friends with a farm in the middle of nowhere because in 7 months he had cost us over $2000 in apartment damage and restraint devices. :( But he's much happier running free around the farm. :)

26. All of my photos are accidents.
Breaking my self-imposed restriction of posting pet photos. But since these aren't my pets. Party at friends house. They kept the doggies in their little outdoor home. I went down to visit them and get a few shots. "Mary" was so excited to see me.... jumped up at me just when I had her in focus......

One of my kittens - Sasha. I have no orange walls at my place, she just moved in when I was snapping a pic and the colors turned out wierd and I got this strange cu. I don't know why I like it.

It's crooked but I think it adds to it.

32. From last month's fireworks...
Here's one where I bumped the tripod just after triggering the shutter.

In some ways, I almost like it better than the "straight" fireworks shots I posted here earlier.
