Falling Waters (Frank Lloyd Wright house)
I always wanted to visit this house. After the conference was over in P-burgh, I finally got to do it.

I was sick as a dog. Food poisoning or something. But there was no way I was not going to see it when we were so close.

A real masterpiece in my opinion.

3. Those are great pictures
I'll never get there, but your photos made me feel like I was right there. Please explain the stairs over the water, how they work into the falls and the house. I wish everyone could live in such an inspirational space.

5. The stairs go directly from the Living Room to the Water
There is a glass door at the top that seals it when not in use.

The building is perfect integration of nature and structure. The windows operate in such a way as you don't really need air conditioning. Also, the operate and allow for customizing just how much sound of the water you want coming into the house.

So much of what we think of as modern building and furnishings are found in the design (remember this house was built in 1935).

I still believe it is the most beautiful house in America. IT is not just a home, it's architecture raised to the level of art.

And now, your pictures have rekindled my wanting!

The slide show is wonderful too...

And how big the place is!

I hadn't realized that...

I hadn't seen any pics from the other side!

Thank you for sharing these!

6. A friend/coworker owned the Frank Lloyd Wright house (the Boynton House) in Rochester, NY ...
... and, over the span of 9 years, I enjoyed the opportunity to visit with Bert and his family many times in this house (Wright's "Prarie Style") in the 70s. It's almost impossible to describe the very special nature of the design, which includes custom furnishings and built-in cabinetry matching the style of the home. "LIVABLE" probably sums it up as well as any single word. There's nothing pretentious about it ... it's as comfortable as a favorite chair.
