Testing the color theme: Pink
It looks like the next contest may be color-themed. So as a test of the system, I'm posting some pictures in a color theme. :hi:

1. The Monterey one is especially gorgeous
The women for peace one is nice too.

I have a couple to offer up. One from ballet class at a public high school:

and a bug, I love bugs.

Nice socks! LOL! And I like bugs, too. Did you use a macro lens for that shot? The leg hairs are so clear.

Thanks for your pink submissions! :hi:

3. Those are beautiful, InTheFlow...
I think I've got some pink ones, too, but I'm trying to get some work done today and can't get to them right now. This darn DU keeps luring me away from what I "ought" to be doing.

the first two photos you posted in the Zen thread. :hi:

I know how DU sucks you in. I'm also neglecting things in the "real world," whatever that is. When you get the time to find more pink pictures, we and this thread will still be here.

10. Ahh, the Roseate Spoonbill!
That is a cool bird to have hanging around the neighborhood! I bird-watch myself, and this bird's cousin, the Great Bill Heron, is one of my favorite birds to shoot (with a camera obviously).

And this bird is far from ugly--the unconventional bill builds character and the showy plumage is just icing on the cake. B-)

13. Gorgeous!
I'm always so disappointed with the quality of light on water in my photos. It always looks good through the viewer, but it just never seems to glow the way it should. Your water always seems to glow. I'm a little jealous, but mostly just happy you share this beauty with us.

I have a confession ... I usually use my PaintShop program on these just a bit, nothing too drastic, just a little to brighten them up. Do you have a program like that? It seems to help a lot, especially with the water. I don't think of it as cheating because they do come out looking more like what I was actually trying to photograph.

20. Whatever. :)
I scan in film prints, mostly. I adjust, too, if the color on my screen doesn't match the print in my hand; most times,it's right on. I definitely have to tweak my digital photos a lot more than the scanned prints.

Right on, alfredo! I was actually going to post a thread in the lounge calling out the men of the photography group for being sexist. But you redeemed your sex. :D

That being said, I think your picture is pretty cool. There are a lot of pink tones in there blending with the earth tones. Nice composition too. Is that your scale?

25. I love that greenhouse.
I've been going there for 30 years. I've watched the kids grow up and take over the business.

When I worked at a bike shop down the street from the greenhouse, I would stop by and buy a rose. I would put it in a bud vase and sit it on the counter. The afternoon sun would shine on it. If you walk in the front door, the rose would seem illuminated from within. Soon a woman from the greenhouse would come by at the end of their day and replace the rose in the vase.

I have others I am considering.

http://homepage.mac.com/alfredo_tomato/PhotoAlbum1.html

One I like is hangingfoliage. The photo was taken at the corner of Cedar and Belmont in Nashville Tn.

The shed1 and the suburbs are others. I am going to tweak them some to see if they can be improved. I don't like the sky in the shed. There seems to be a pink cast to it.

Yeah, it's a bit cheesy, but when I looked at my photo collection I was surprised how few pictures I have with any significant pink in them.

31. YEA men who are secure in their manhood!
:silly:

I actually hate pink. In fact, chose pink for this thread because I figured it would never be chosen for contest color, and thus be a good way to test the concept of a color-themed contest.

I don't think inside my house has a shred of pink, except for one landscape photo I blew up and framed that includes a field of fireweed. So I was completely surprised at the amount of pink photos I had.

And yes, your photo is a little cheesy. They're not even real roses, are they? :P

I did the photography for the Waldorf site: http://www.waldorfinstitute.org/ - they had a whole lot of pink going on. Architecture #8 and art #3 in the photogallery there are some prime examples.
