Texas sized mosquitos
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 02:28 PM by Maestro
Actually it is robber fly, the genus Diogmite. This guy was perched and he wasn't moving. I even shook the little rod he was on, but he wasn't flying anywhere!

As I turned around I actually caught this swallowtail in flight.

Eeeewwwww ..... More fun with your fancy new lens, huh, Maestro? Very cool the way you can see his hairy little legs.

3. Actually, that was my kit lens.
I was too close for the telephoto so this is just the ole stand-by, but it is no slouch either. :)

5. I'm waffling back and forth on investing
in a good macro lens for these close-up shots but I just don't know. I'd also like another telephoto lens with a bit more reach.
