Check out the shots I took at a Latin Jazz festival today. I tried to capture the movement of the musicians while trying to maintain focus.

The band actually bought these photos to use for publicity shots.

It's Karsh Kale (pronounced 'kursh ka-lee)

how much did the band pay for them? (I'm going to see if this band wants to buy the photos I took)

8. They paid about $100

... for six shots. Probably cheap, but hey, I'm not a professional photographer... yet :)

9. Did they buy the prints or did you give them a CD or how did that work?

I don't think you got a bad deal on that. Many bands who are not big don't have a lot of money to spend on photos. I'm not sure how big that band is, cause I'm not really familiar with a lot of modern jazz.

10. I gave them a CD and prints

5"x7" prints from my color printer (Epson Stylus Photo R200). They are not super-famous, but they work constantly and have a couple of CDs out. They are more in the 'world music' genre than true jazz.
