Anyone on ADD/ADHD meds as an adult?
I filled a script for Ritalin today. I hope it helps.

1. One of my best friends is
He's graduating from law school in the next few weeks, and taking the bar soon after. I'm almost certain he would not have been able to do this if he were not properly treated for his ADD.

Before he was on the meds, he had a very tough time sticking with anything, even though he was a brilliant computer scientist, had a master's degree, and was a very high-paid consultant working under contract at a major financial firm. Eventually, he quit that, and basically lost two years of his life addicted to online gaming. Finally, he pulled himself out of it and got his life back, largely because he got his ADD treated.

In fact, he's a friend of mine on Facebook-- if you like I can introduce you to him.

Good luck to you-- I hope things work out! :toast:

2. Thanks...
I've taken meds for depression, anxiety, Bi-Polar disorder (II?) and am either a Zombie or a nervous wreck. I haven't gotten much past "meh" the last 10 years. My parents said I've always been ditzy. Great when you're not living it, Mom. :-(

I'm tired of feeling as though my hundreds of thoughts are part of a giant pinball game in my head. I have so many unfinished projects and every single one makes me feel even more a failure. I'm smart, but I'm not able to really accomplish anything. Makes me not want to get out of bed.

And yes, I'd like to meet your friend. I could use some inspiration. :)

3. I take an ADD/ADHD medicine as an adult
I am currently on Vyvanse. I was on Adderall XR for several years before that. Taking stimulants has been very beneficial for me. I know many people who take meds for adult ADD/ADHD that are able to function better on a daily basis as well improving their job performance.

4. I take Concerta, a slow-release form of Ritalin.
Mainly for "executive dysfunction" stuff related to my Asperger's, I am completely unable to do any multitasking whatsoever without it

I take Adderall.

The Adderall XR sucks, more side effects than the regular.Ritalin was what I took for years,as a kid, but it had one bad thing, you can "crash" as Ritalin has a rather short "half life" in the body. And during that time your ADD might flare up,along with lethargy and irritability times 10.Be careful with following dosing schedules with Ritalin.Easier said than done with ADD..And with all ADD drugs it might be a good idea to talk to your doc about taking drug breaks where you don't take any ADD meds for a short while as ADD drugs are rough on your body and it gives your body rest.I myself take Adderall because it is not so time sensitive dose wise as Ritalin was.And it does not mess with my sleep even though I am up late(trauma issues) once I am tired and I go to sleep there are no problems.
