SUSA polls for senators - if they are correct, people are stupid.
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 08:49 PM by Mass
My two favorite senators, Kerry and Durbin are 75 th. Lautenberg 97th. Boxer is 63th, Harkin 63th . Kennedy and Byrd is the only one to be reasonnably placed. It's official: it's all about pork.

Only satisfaction: Santorum is last.

1. Don't worry about it too much on Kerry
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 08:59 PM by TayTay
His numbers went up in SE Mass (Which is the Cape to Fall River.) I was a little worried about this in August.

The SE Mass numbers in August were
51% approve
42% disapprove
7% undecided.

Now in October it's
57% approve
38% disapprove
4% undecided.

The rest of the numbers are volatile, but they will come around. (They always have.) The Cape and SE numbers were low. This is much better and will stay that way. He's in good shape.

It's not so much the pork as it is the fact that Kerry just came off a national election and MA wants to make sure he still remembers us. (This is dopey but true. Sigh, all politics really is local you know.) His Boston and Western numbers will go up. They are just volatile right now. They will be until he either decides to rerun for the Senate or decides to run all out for PRes.

2. Not Kerry particularly - It is more the fact that most of the senators who
fight for us regularly are apparently not liked in their states .

3. Ted "the Hulk" Stevens is number 8.
There you go.
This is a stupid poll.
Kyl is also 75th with Kerry.
Jon Kyl, you are NO John Kerry!

4. Stevens is chair of the Commerce Committee, so a lot of pork goes

to Alaska. It's all about pork.

What gets me even more is that Obama is n 3 after less than one year while Durbin, who has worked for years in the Senate for IL is 75th. I just dont understand what it is here? They see him more on TV?

7. SurveyUSA was weird last year
One web site pulled all of them together and kept a map showing how things were- when the survey usa ones came out it was weird.

I don't understand Lautenberg's numbers - when he stepped back into the race he immediately had high numbers. I've heard nothing that would make him that unpopular. (Corzine I hear more about - possibly because he is running for Governor. He should win, but the acting governor, who he forced out of the race, would actually win a landslide. I've been doing some calling and am very surprised by the number of people who would prefer it if Cody were in the race.)

8. If Corzine wins, who do you thinkwill be appointed to the Senate
to fill out Corzine's term? Obviously, it will be a Dem. Who are the leading contenders?

5. But can we all agree on #100?
(He who's name shall not be mentioned.) I think that one must at least be right, no?

6. I dont think there will be any contest on that one.
He deserves to be there. Hopefully, this is a good sign for next year.

11. Those numbers are flaked
Look at the difference between Kennedy and Kerry on voters by race.

Something is seriously wrong with this poll. Those don't add up at all.

12. The numbers by race in MA are meaningless - MOE too big
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 10:18 PM by Mass
because the samples are too small = 5 % * 600 = 30 people tested in all categories but white.

I still think these numbers are flawed generally speaking because of the way SUSA collects these number by robocall.
