Need Help
Edited on Sat May-14-05 08:30 PM by Kerry2008
Well, as you may or may not know I own JohnKerryForAmerica.com. Simply put it's a website focused on spreading the word about Senator Kerry, and keeping together the "band of brothers" of Kerry supporters for 2008. I envisioned in late November, when I bought the site, a website full of activity and hope. But so far I feel really disappointed, and down about the whole thing.

For me it's hard seeing such a great site that I created with such potential become a dud. I'm concerned with the activity. Our petition which just reached 500 signatures had a goal of getting 1,000 signatures. And that goal expired back in March. And our forum (while the active has improved some) has a lot of members, but little activity. We are looking for staff, and people to help out. But no one wants to step to the plate and help out minus a few people. I proposed a chat that was scheduled for today, but out of 200 people contacted I only got responses from 3 people who were interested in joining.

So basically I'm really down on the progress being made, and I'm looking for Kerrycrats with support to help out. Not sure what to do from here, or where to go. I've tried many different things with only mixed results, and a mediocre response from Kerry supporters. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? Anything!? :(

1. I'm on your mailing list
The letters are great. Don't get discouraged, just keep it going. Personally I have been too busy to be here even--I'm blowing off work to read now. Put a link in your signature line. Maybe that will help. Over the summer I'll get there. You're doing a great job.

2. Well thanks!!!
I really appreciate your kind words.

I hope what your saying is true, and things pick up during the summer. So far it's been really discouraging watching really talented Kerry supporters not have enough time to help out. Which I can understand, I barely have time to update the website.

5. Business Will surely pick up.......
I think the dissapointment of the last election is looming in everyones mind and I think it will continue through the 2006 elections. After that it will begin to get very busy and we'll all have alot more support for Kerry.

You have a great site and i dont think it needs any fine tuning yet, we have a ways to go to look forward to 2008, but the day will come when your site will be a major success.

Just hang in there, and whatever you do dont let that site go, if you look here at DU there are still so much more post in 2004 election results and discussion than there are in Election 2006 and 2008. Some people just aren't ready to let go of the past, and look to the future, we are and we will continue to do.

7. I just get sidetracked
Cross blog. Be sure and come to our blog, so that we will remember to come to yours. You'd think I wouldn't forget, but just you wait til middle age catches up, you'll see! I will definitely try and remember to come more often though. (JK4A, JK4A, JK4A)

And your response rate isn't all that unusual, pretty typical for online stuff.

Oh course, I have also signed the petition.
I haven't participated in the chats,I know nothing about how they work or how to approach them. The timing is usually bad for me also.
Maybe you need a new web page name. I have mentioned your site to people, but I always have difficulty in remembering the correct name.

Perhaps, you should consider something about Kerry's travels.Keeping up with legislation and bills he has written or co-writes and possibly a Kerry gossip page. You could include, news on Kerry as well as his family. How about information on some of Kerry's habits.I know nothing at all personal about this man. What makes him tic, what he likes and what he dislikes. How about Teresa, what does she like and dislike.
Finally, I think to a degree, for the average person, the election is over and they have put politics aside for awhile.
I'd say don't worry about the petition right now. The election is over three years away.
Anyway, that is my two cents, for what its worth.
