Kerry at Mass Challenge - I think last Friday or Saturday
Edited on Thu Feb-10-11 02:56 PM by karynnj
This is really cool - there are three videos on the page - the first one is Kerry walking through the place hearing the projects that people are working on, the second is his speech to them and the third are some CEOs speaking of Mass Challenge. (The last is alos worth watching - these guys really like Kerry. The iRobot guy after saying how lucky they were to have Kerry, says he doesn't say that about all Senators - or something like that.

There are a wealth of pictures here. Here is the Boston Globe article on his then upcoming visit - http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2011/02/kerry_visiting.html

Here is Mass Challenge's press release on Kerry's visit:

On Saturday, Senator John Kerry visited MassChallenge, to celebrate the launch of the Startup America Partnership announced by President Obama earlier this week.

MassChallenge, located at One Marina Park Drive in the Boston Innovation District, is the world’s largest global startup competition and accelerator program. On Monday, the White House applauded the MassChallenge Startup Competition and Accelerator as one of the most promising initiatives in the country for supporting entrepreneurs, and subsequently announced MassChallenge as a partner in the new Startup America Partnership, an independent entity co-funded by the Kauffman Foundation and the Case Foundation. During the Saturday visit, Senator Kerry met with several MassChallenge startups to discuss some of the challenges and opportunities that they have encountered in their roller-coaster journey as entrepreneurs in a difficult economy.

“Empowering our small businesses will fuel our economic recovery and renew Massachusetts’ economy for a new generation,” said Sen. Kerry. “This shouldn’t be a partisan issue – because this is the kind of smart decision that will enable the United States to continue to lead the world.”

“The City of Boston’s Innovation District is rapidly becoming a model entrepreneurial community, and MassChallenge has helped tremendously by drawing hundreds of innovators to the area. Entrepreneurs nurtured through programs like MassChallenge are the job creators of the future and we are delighted they are making the Innovation District their home and launching pad for all their successes,” said Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino.
