We just got a robocall from Fred Thompson
asking us to vote for Jeff Beatty on Tuesday and "oust John Kerry from the US Senate.

Best laugh I've had in days, and that includes the ZERO laughs from McCain's appearance on SNL last night. Was that ever surreal...

1. You must have independents in your household
We get calls from McCain surrogates as well. (Boy oh boy are they ever phoning the wrong house!)

Yeah, a call from Fred Thompson, ah, that'll move 'em.

The only funny part last night was McCain appearing in the skit with Tina Fey when she did her "aside" to the audience that it was now about "Palin '08" for her. OMG, how could he even joke about that? Wow!

3. Yeah - exactly
That was what made it surreal - I kept thinking through the whole thing, "How can he joke about this, 3 days before the election?" I can see a post-election look-at-what-a-good-sport-I-am appearance, but three days before? It amazes me that anyone can watch McCain in action and still think it's a good idea to vote for the guy.

But then again, I felt the exact same way about Bush...Clearly these people and I do not live in the same demographic.

10. Yep.

He used his acting (i.e. Reagan) to get elected to the Senate back in 1994. He is such a joke in TN, but fundies still love him. :puke:

2. I am shocked that they think that robo call is remotely worthwhile
Thompson polled at less than 1% of the Republican primary vote before he pulled out and he pronounced the candidate's name wrong. (I listened on the politickerMA site. One of the Boston papers criticized Kerry for pronouncing his name like Warren Beatty's, when apparently it is Bee tee. Thompson did the same. http://www.politickerma.com/jeremyjacobs/1689/fred-thompson-records-robo-call-beatty

I think they got the wrong household.

5. umm...yeah.
I think they got the wrong household.

The funny thing is, my husband and I have a running joke going since the primaries about Fred Thompson. Every time he shows his face on a Law and Order episode (and we're fans) and says something tin-eared and boneheaded - which is pretty much every time he appears - my husband will give an exaggerated sigh and say, "The guy ought to run for president." So when the robocall came I had to run into the other room and hand him the phone so he could hear it. :D

7. I got that call, too!
. . on the answering machine in my new winter rental (an apartment that was vacant the last two months, before I moved in). Great targeting, no?! :)

9. My MIL received 2 today. Well, she already voted for Kerry, so
it was two lost calls, but Thompson gives absolutely no reason to vote for Beatty, neither does the ad this morning.
