Palen's past pastor: Vote for Kerry & you burn in hell
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 11:48 AM by beachmom
http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/09/palins_past_pastor_bushfoes_he.html

The most recent pastor at the Assembly of God in Wasilla, Ala., where Palin was raised - the pastor arriving in 1999, in a church that Palin left in 2002 - later warned that critics of President Bush might be banished to Hell and that people who voted for John Kerry might not gain entry to Heaven, the Huffington Post reports.

And, in a Palin videotape that the HuffPost is showcasing, Palin, who had been mayor of Wasilla when the pastor first met her and returned as governor of Alaska to address the church in June, calls the war in Iraq "a task that is from God'' and asks congregants to pray for a new oil pipeline - "I think God's will has to be done.''

It's official: I am completely exhausted by the constant barrage of new revelations about Sarah Palen. And there seems to be no end in sight.

During the 2004 election season, he praised President Bush's performance during a debate with Sen. John Kerry, then offered a not-so-subtle message about his personal candidate preferences. "I'm not going tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for this particular person, I question your salvation. I'm sorry." Kalnins added: "If every Christian will vote righteously, it would be a landslide every time."

2. I know whatcha mean
I'm way over being interested in "Caribou Barbie" (as Stephanie Miller called her this morning). Luckily, this thing has gone viral, the media is doing its job vetting her, and all we need to do is sit back and watch.

Obama is doing the same thing. He's staying low and local this week, not trying to make any headlines, and just giving the media room to cover this thing. Very smart.

3. I am already beyond sick of this woman and eveything associated with her
I am also completely sick of her being touted as a 'Hockey mom". It really says something when that is how she is designated in so many articles. I guess JK had too many real accomplishments to be labeled a "Hockey Dad" because Vanessa played. ( I thought she did - ane here is a paragraph found by google:

"It wasn’t always that explicit, it was more of who my dad is at his baseline. I remember when I started playing hockey, and he very much encouraged me because I wanted to do it. He bought me my first pair of hockey skates. Then one day we were at a store and he was buying me some new hockey gloves. The salesman was very condescending about my getting them. My dad said, “Look, this kid plays first-line ice hockey at her school.” He was just really upset because of the way somebody was judging me because I was a girl." http://www.msmagazine.com/fall2004/vanessakerry.asp

Somehow, I can't imagine JK being called "Hockey Dad Kerry" in an article for any of his Senate runs or the Presidential one. Thinking how silly that sounds, gives a reality check. It will take few gaffes for her to be seen as qualified - she did not do that if she is labeled "hockey mom".

4. Great article. I forgot about that. Maybe somebody needs to
point out that we have already had a "hockey parent" run for President.

5. I'm starting to think the Palen nomination is going to backfire on McCain.
She is so reactionary. In the end, I think she'll be remembered as a divisive figure for the Republicans.

7. i think this hurt Kerry more than most of us may have thought of
i knew in 2004 about the church people telling people not to vote for Kerry but mostly blew it off as falwell, robertson etc types who would n ever vote for Kerry anyways.

but in some places, especially smaller towns where there is only one place most people go it would have a lot of influence.

i think it was also organized by the RNC and related political groups like the Bush campaign.

i laughed when i read about them telling people in West Virginia that Kerry was going to ban the bible but people actually believed that crap.
