1. Yikes!
Please post that in GD-P.

I seriously can't take anymore of the Republicans. How did they become so emboldened? Nevermind!

2. Given everything that has happened in the past 6 plus years,
you have every reason to worry. This seems to be something that is legally up to the states - and it could make a huge difference. Oddly, if all states were required to do it, it would likely be fairer and would more closely resemble the popular vote. What is bad is the California is a big blue state with a red governor.

It would obviously hurt - as 100% of the electors will typically go to the Democrat now.

6. That's WONDERFUL...
...news. The only way this will be undermined by the Democrats is PUBLICITY...and LOTS of it. Thanks, KG.

Glad to see that you are 'on the story.' :7 Makes me feel a lot better. :hi:

7. Haven't posted about it
But probably will tonight, it's something that should be covered and being in CA, all the more important.

I spent the day hiking on the beach yesterday and I'm worn out. This taking time for myself stuff is tiring!

8. More from Kevin Drum on this
He makes a lot of sense on this:

But I wouldn't panic over this yet. If the powers-that-be decide to fund the signature gathering, they can probably get this thing on the ballot. But Californians have a pretty serious case of initiative fatigue these days, and not many initiatives pass. What's worse (for Republicans, that is), it's nearly impossible to pass a blatantly partisan initiative. It's hard to think of the last one that succeeded.

I would tend to agree with Kevin, I think it will be tough to pass if it does make the ballot.

10. Sure hope you're right...
...on this. What worries me is the title, because it sounds like something to make our elections better.

Some people want election reform because they know what the Republicans have been doing. These people are paying attention...so I'm not worried about them. Other people want reform and don't really understand the problem...they might choose 'any reform' as better than none. They aren't paying attention...and there are a LOT of them. They gave us Arnold.
