Found a few kind words from Dodd and Edwards after Kerry bowed out of '08 race
This Hartford Courant article lies atrociously about Kerry "choking back tears" -- I know precisely when his voice broke, and they so completely got it wrong. Nevertheless, I'm pointing it out to you because I saw Dodd and Edwards said a kind word, and I hadn't read it before:

When he was done, Kennedy paid tribute, and the accolades from colleagues poured in. "We traveled in the Middle East together last month and his belief that America can regain our leadership in the world as well as once again be respected and admired was apparent," Dodd said.

His 2004 vice presidential running mate, John Edwards, recalled how "no one outside of our family was more supportive of Elizabeth (Edwards) as she battled cancer than John and Teresa."

1. Elizabeth and John certainly didn't ACT like it the last few months, did they?
I want to love them and care about them doing well, but their nastiness towards the Kerrys at a time when they knew it would hurt them the most was craven and callous. Especially since the Kerrys would never reciprocate with callousness of their own, even though the Edwards deserved it at that point.

It shows how shallow the Edwards are - either the Kerrys were the most supportive people outside their family, as Edwards says now or Teresa was insensitive as Elizabeth Edwards said. (Odd how the EE comment was written - not saying Teresa was nasty, but that in trying to help she was so out of touch she almost triggered a depression in EE and she was wrong. - hits the RW themes, while letting EE look innocent.)

It also doesn't credit Kerry with making him VP or any statesmanship or political skill. The woeld resolves around Edwards.

Dodd's comment was nice.

4. ditto.
It's easy to say nice things about Kerry now that he's no longer a threat.

I'm taking notes about who is now acting "nicey-nice" now. I won't forget. Harry Reid's high up on the list, as is Edwards.

Dodd's another story. I'm not excited about him, but at the moment he's my top candidate. I don't recall him ever having said anything to stab JK in the back. And I heard an interview with him on NPR this week that was good (unfortunately, I can't seem to find the audio link). He's not exciting, but he's solid, and he is a true grownup. And I give him credit for standing up with Lamont last year when it would have been a lot easier for him personally to go underground on that campaign.

wherewithal to consider the man, or who've had the privilege to meet him, must surely agree that Senator Kerry is a giant, someone who represents a gleaming apex of American citizenship.

And his voting record ain't bad either.

A lot of the bias against John Kerry is petty and a lot of the rest of it is myopic and unfair.

Not to mention many of us feel he won the Ohio election, and with it, the White House. George W. Bush is a hell of a long way from the kind of citizen who actually won in 2004.

I like hearing Dodd and Edwards offer kind words, and I watched on C-Span when Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid praised Kerry on the Senate floor. I wish others would be as generous of spirit as Chris, John, Ted and Harry.
