If you have an email relationship with KO please send this in light of MSNBC's stepped
up campaign to attack Kerry.

June 28, what we ACCIDENTALLY learned from a Hardball commercial break and a live mic

and why the efforts have tripled since then to take Kerry out - especially after the Kerry-Feingold withdrawal plan vote cost Lieberman the primary.

This is news that corpmedia was HIDING from us - this focus group report was not intended to get out because the results were NOT what the establishment wanted. Kerry did TOO well. The news on the blogs became instead what Delay said about Hillary - completely covering up the news from the focus group.

MATTHEWS: Hey thank you for calling me. It was a good thing for me, mostly.
DELAY: Oh really.

MATTHEWS: Oh of course it was. We got on the air as fast as we could....

<...>

MATTHEWS: Shannon told me, she called me, she said 'don't worry -- he's not calling in to complain'...

MATTHEWS: Have you seen this new focus group stuff on the candidates?

DELAY: No I haven't

MATTHEWS: It's great stuff. I'll send it to you -- it's great -- yeah it's great stuff. Hillary, John Kerry. All these guys, all these democrats, and how they do. And, uh, Frank Luntz did it...

DELAY: who I like

CM: ...and Hillary did not do well. Kerry did well.

DELAY: You're kidding.

MATTHEWS: I am NOT kidding. They didn't like Edwards -- they thought he was a rich lawyer, pretending to care about poor people...

DELAY: Too slick. Too slick.

MATTHEWS: ...and Hillary was a know-it-all.

DELAY: Nothing worse than a woman know-it-all

<...>

MATTHEWS: Thanks. I owe you one. I owe you two -- today and last night.

DELAY: No you don't.

MATTHEWS: No, I do.

DELAY: I appreciate it.

1. But will MSNBC let him do that?
They have been giving him a lot of leeway. But I don't know if they'd let him do something that might diminish the stature of some of their other teevee hosts.

3. he can at least show balance by REPORTING on the focus group results that
they undoubtedly have access to without saying what Matthews did - he was not afraid to state how the media deliberately piled on Kerry using WH talking points re DroppedPronounGate.

2. Sorry to be daft
I feel dumb for asking this, but what exactly is this? Is it a transcript of Hardball? How did it get leaked if it took place during a commercial break? Is it possible to get video of it?

I truly don't remember the incident on the blogs.

However, it looks pretty damning. And the results of this survey they talk about make a LOT more sense than most of the current blathering, given what I've seen in real life around the country.

4. Harry Shearer posted the commercial break transcript at HuffPost. If the senator

and his office don't know about this, then we better get it to them. It happened June 28. I post about it in GD.

This is the type of connecting that I am very good at. NOTHING happens in a vacuum - NOTHING.

7. This blows the Q-poll out of the water
A major talking point of the poll is that JK has supposedly been one of the least liked politicians all year long, including when the focus group was taken.

And what you talked about... being handled as I speak.

9. It came from this
And the phrases shown to the focus group came from the first list Sen. Kerry used at the March 11th Nashua Dems dinner in Nashua, NH that night. (Some of us were there!)

10. I just read it
That particular prognosis of JK's chances isn't all that hopeful, either. It looks like Luntz put Warner at the top of the pack, but Warner dropped out already.

11. It is an old list now and Luntz is Repub analyst
That should be taken into consideration. That is now 8 months old. There has been a lot of water under the bridge so to speak since then.

12. It's still Luntz and much of what he does has Repub spin, no matter what.
He will always emphasize any Kerry negative to its extreme because that is what the RNC and their mediawhores at NBC have shown they WANT above all else.

5. Was this right after Delay resigned?
I know Tweety interviewed him around that time, and was gushing all over him. I didn't watch the interview, but I do recall hearing about some off-the-cuff remarks from that which were broadcast.

8. I saw part of it, at least
I saw this because I remember "I owe you one, or two". I remember thinking - wtf? I remember conversation about this focus group too, and the surprise that people really do like John Kerry when they see him. So I'm not sure what this 'leak' stuff is all about.

6. well the evidence is all over the teevee.
So many Washington pundits treat Kerry with absolute distain. I think if I boycotted every show I've heard it on I'd have none left. (hey that might not be a bad idea at this point) I just keep thinking that they are in a different world from the rest of America. They're in their own self-deluded bubble of smug know-it-all-ness and think they both know what's going on and can influence the rest of us. The last one I heard was, "Kerry is the last one in America to know that he's not viable," blah blah blah!
