John Kerry in NH
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 08:51 PM by _dynamicdems
I posted earlier and had to delete because, in my excitement, I jumped the gun and posted before I had all the details.

I'll be attending the luncheon in Salem, NH on Wed. for NH State Senate candidate Elizabeth Ross where Senator Kerry will speaking. She isn't running in my district so I didn't get the invitation personally, but I was asked if I'd like to go by someone who did. The catch: I had to let him know by tonight. I RSVP'd and asked if it was open to the public or if it was invitation only because I wanted to know if some friends over the border could go. Since he hasn't gotten back to me on that, I'm assuming it is too late. In any case, it is at (high) noon this Wednesday. You guys will get a full update and photos, of course.

There is a back story to the candidacy of Beth Ross, which is why (besides Senator Kerry, of course) that I want to attend this event. I spent most of my formative years as a denizen of Salem and Beth Ross is running against Mike Downing, whose father was a prominent NH Democrat for decades. Junior was following in Del Sr.'s footsteps until he decided it would be more advantageous to change his party to Republican for this election as Salem is now a red town.

I'm so happy Sen. Kerry is campaigning for Beth Ross. I hope she kicks Downing's ass. It is going to be a tough race though because Downing has been a big name in Salem for a long time.

edit: I hit the wrong button and posted before I was finished. Duh!

It's probably a small gathering, right? So hopefully you can say hello and get some good pictures. Please thank him for standing up for our values and against that godawful torture bill!

4. It will probably be small because the district comprises only 4 towns.
If I get a chance to talk to him, I'll be sure to thank him for all of us.

There will be photos. And a transcript if my ancient tape recorder holds up.

2. Yes, please DD
What beachmom said. If you get to talk to him, will you please thank him for us for speaking out against the torture bill? He's been just stellar. I'm more impressed than I can express with what he's been saying lately. I really hope he knows how we all feel.

And good luck to Ms Ross. It's so great you're going to this event!

5. He needs to hear how grateful we are.
The torture bill. For God's sake, those two words have NO business next to each other. :(

6. Thank you, I will!
It is thrilling to be in NH now, because we are like the new baby in the blue family. It is mportant that we grow to adulthood and add a few more siblings this year and in 2008.

Mom and Dad DNC, we want brothers and sisters so we can keep the red bullies from completely trashing our neighborhood (USA).

8. It's amazing that he's going all out like this for a candidate for state
senator from a district comprising just 4 towns. She did campaign for him in '04 though. Still, he'll be canvassing for her in the 4 towns before the luncheon. What a guy! Talk about a busy schedule! I can't even imagine how he does it.

12. Pic from AP on NH event today
Just in advance of a first person account from DynDems:

AP - Wed Oct 4, 12:47 PM ET U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., talks with Henry Maheu during a visit to the Pelham Senior Center in Pelham, N.H., Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006. The 2004 Democratic nominee was helping Beth Roth's state Senate campaign. (AP Photo/Jim Cole)

That place is about 6 miles from my house. (But it's another state and I don't understand a lot of what goes on in NH and why they have 400 State Reps.)

13. Is that a weird angle?
Or is that room almost too small for him?

14. In a lot of the c-span early 2003 events
in peoples' living rooms and such, you'd see him ducking to go through doorways.

Some houses are not built to his scale. ;-)

15. He would have to stoop over to be in my basement
I think my basement, though, was built for hobbits.

Hey is kinda tall.

especially the 2 young women in the back. (They may be Kerry aidess but they both look totally in awe. (He does look like his head is very near the ceiling.
