Survivor Tocantins: Episode 2 Discussion Thread
I will never understand why people who claim to be fans of the show make the same mistakes over and over. Ousting Candace was a HUGE mistake. She rocked in the challenges and kicked ass at camp. She was on the outside of Coach's alliance, and he is taking the silent leader role. He seems to be protecting Debbie, who is going to tell him everything that is said. I would have ousted Debbie or Sierra. True I'm upset because I had a crush on Candace (man she is sexy) but getting rid of strong and smart players early is always a mistake.

The Jalepeno tribe looked good last night. They seemed to ignore Sandy, who was pretty quiet this episode. But they got together in the challenge. I loved the termite meal. My boy Spencer was so cool chomping off the head. Good move, since the protein is needed.

The Sierra/Brendan alliance is going to build. I think he is smart and will cause issues for Coach. I was not too impressed with the difficulty finding the idol, but oh well. The fire pit was a bad lie, but no one seemed to care about Candace calling them on it. Candace did probably cause too much strife with the cooking beans and rice. Its never a good idea to be a big personality early in the game. I would have turned Coach by simply disagreeing with his respectfully and asking him to explain himself. The other HUGE mistake last night was Taj admitting she is RICH!!! she never should have tipped that she married Eddie George and has big bucks. That almost cost porn star Brian the game years ago when his wife sent in the video of his cars.

The b=ball challenge was awesome. My wife called it survivor gone wild for all the blurring of boobs they had to do. It was a fun game. Sierra did all she could to stop Stephen at the end. She needed help there. Still I give her credit for going all out.

The twist on Exhile was a good idea. Brendan was smart to choose Taj. She is not a physical threat and he picked someone who was someone on the outs with their tribe. I think they can work something out. Later in the game, a tribe switch may come in handy, especially if there is a tribe mix up and one player can get back to his/her alliance.

Overall a good episode. The challenge rocked and the game play was good. I would not have ousted Candace, but it was a good play for Coach. He needs to be dealt with immediately or else...

1. Debbie not too bright
I'm afraid my pick, Debbie, is not too bright. She bought that firepit lie too easily, and I just sat there shaking my head.

Coach ousted Candace to solidiy his position as leader, IMO, and got rid of someone he felt was a threat to his leadership position. I think Candace should've stayed--she was a good player, and smart and coach weakened his tribe by getting rid of her, even if he thinks he made it stronger.

Man oh man, Taj what the hell were you thinking! You never tell people you're rich in this game! She will be the next to go from Jalapao, mark my words. You could see the wheels spinning in those guys' heads at her news, and it wasn't fanboying over the football player.

I didn't like the challenge--it seemed awfully rough to me, and made me feel uncomfortable in a few places. I'm not sure why--I think they've done this type of challenge before, but something about it bothered me last night.

2. Yeah, I'm not sure it was a good strategy for Taj to say she was married to Eddie George
But at least she didn't tell them she used to be a member of SWV. LOL

3. They should have gotten rid of Coach. The women who play this game
should go in with the idea of uniting and voting off the stronger players. That's the only way a woman will get to the final. Taj made a major mistake letting them know who she was. She seems like a great player, but she won't last because everyone else knows she doesn't need the money.

4. I think I might disagree about Taj
I'm not so sure it was a big mistake. Seems like enough guys knew who her husband is, that they might think that befriending her could be a good thing for when they go back to real life, whether they win or not.

Also, she has pegged herself as the primo person to take to the finals!

So, she just might be hanging around longer than y'all imagine.

5. Maybe
I think the potential costs outweigh the benefits. Eddie George make big bucks, thats hard to ignore.

6. Coach is just icky
He reminded me of Jeff Goldblum's character in Jurassic Park during this episode (or just of Jeff Goldblum). Arrogant and thinking he is charming and adored by women. Shivers ran up and down my spine and not in a good way. Did you know he lied about where he was going to his employer? He was fired: http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/survivor_tocantins/2009_Feb_19_ben_wade_fired

I didn't want to see Candace go. I was sad to see even Erinn had voted against her.

What happened to the reward challenges? It seems like they've kind of gone by the wayside the first few weeks during the last few seasons.

Exile Island -- I'm glad there was a twist but I still wish it would go away. Just not a fan. That clue sure wasn't any help in finding the idol!

Taj, Taj, Taj. Why did you tell everyone you are rich? Even if you aren't rich-rich, everyone thinks you are because you are married to an ex-NFL player!

My guy Brendan doesn't seem so bad so far. I like the funny cattle farmer - corporate guy friendship. An odd couple but glad to see people making friends that they normally wouldn't have.

7. He told his soccer team he was taking 2 mos off for cancer tests? That is beyond slimy.
I had the feeling you did, watching him. At tribal council I actually had to put my hand up to block out his face, I was so repulsed. Watching that smirk I felt I was looking at a sociopath.

He boasts about manipulating people in that article you link to (and thanks for doing that!) but for God's sake that's easy when you play on people's sympathy to do it. He's "off to pursue adventures in Hollywood"? OMFG. If he makes it all the way through to the finals it will be the biggest mistake the producers have made in the history of Survivor. He is NOT fun to watch, he's scary.

Maybe Candace had encountered people like him as a lawyer. Maybe he sensed that she saw through him.
