I am no longer seeing my Mistress. I am drawing strength from the Bible.
What a Hypocrite, Mark Sanford needs to leave office NOW!. This is the same guy who went after President Clinton for his sexual infidelity and now is playing the bible card. Listen up religious people, you can't preach your family values SHIT and go against your family values shit and then play the bible card. Enough of this already, own up you cheater and leave office, and start paying your child support on your four kids, you dumb bastard. I am so tired of the Hypocrisy.

End of Rant.

2. I had to let it happen, I had to change...

Couldn't stay all my life, horny
Looking out the church window, out of the sun
So I chose freedom
Running around, trying everything new
And my mistress sure impressed me
Just like I expected her to...

Don't cry for me, South Carolina
The truth is, I sort of left you.
But I just asked Jesus
For forgiveness,
I broke my promise
Don't keep your distance

(Voice of Mrs. Sanford)
You let your people down, Sanford
You were supposed to have been so moral.
Piling on the sanctimony,
But you're just a phony,
A major douchebag.
You broke your promise,
I'll keep my distance.
And my money...
And the houses...

3. Both he AND his wife are totally freaking me out with the overt X-tianity.
If this is typical South Carolina...
keep me the HELL AWAY!

I also loved how he only apologized to
"people of faith"...I guess the rest
of us should expect nothing of our
Governors....

4. Playing the bible card when something goes wrong has replaced playing the race card.

8. Very typical.
I grew up in South Carolina and joined the Marine Corps to get away from it.

That should tell you something. Well, OK, there were other reasons, like breaking up with my girlfriend. I really wanted to be hopelessly romantic and join the French Foreign Legion, but couldn't afford a ticket to Marseilles...:-)

The state has always produced particularly loathsome politicians. Like "Cotton Ed" Smith, the prototype for Strom Thurmond.

Smith stayed in the U.S. Senate from 1909 to 1944, running on one issue. You'd never guess what it was.

Hint - a reporter once wrote of Cotton Ed: "If you removed the word 'nigger' from his vocabulary, he would be speechless."

Wikipedia doesn't mention that. But does note that he walked out of the 1936 Democratic Convention when he saw that the invocation prayer was being delivered by a black preacher. I never knew that:

9. But it also gave us Stephen Colbert!
and you...that cancels out a LOT!

Sorry you missed out on the whole Foreign Legion thing...

I'm really bowled over by the religious language that
your politicians use. That would be embarrassing up
here in Michigan...

10. Ha! Thanks! Love that pic!
To be mentioned in the same post as Colbert is humbling...

One of my favorite Foreign Legion movies--predictably--is the completely grim and depressing Savior. Which happily has nothing to do with Jesus. I guess it's not really a "Foreign Legion movie," since that only takes up a miniscule part of the story. After which Dennis Quaid becomes a mercenary in Bosnia "so I can kill Muslims."

11. I won't thank you for reminding me about THAT movie...
It rears it's horrible head in my consciousness
every once in a while.

I can't see a MALLET without thinking about
that movie.

12. Too bad about the Legion...
Just think, had you joined, you might have had your own TV survival show :)

5. Meanwhile
Monogamous, loving, law-abiding, same-sex couples can't marry because homosexuality is against "Biblical principles". :eyes:

7. Under Biblical law, he can simply marry the mistress...
...while keeping his present wife. Monogamy is actually a custom we inherited from pagan Rome.

13. Why is it that the biggest, stupidest Fundies are always the ones who stray?
Let's face it: Humans started to get fucked-up the minute they tried to regulate sexuality and bring shame upon it. Just look at the shaming story of the Garden of Eden, and the phallic serpent who OF COURSE tempted the sinful woman, who then led the poor, besotted man astray. What a load of crap! All these stupid, patriarchal religions in the world, and the idiots who follow them are bound to be screwed in the head.

But it's us Godless heathens who're reviled and scorned, who're going straight to hell. It's Bizarro World, isn't it?
