Religion as a series of movies.
I didn't write this but I think it is an interesting and funny way of looking at the faiths of the God of Abraham. I found it while surfing.

"Think of it like a series of movies. The Torah is the first one and the New Testament is the sequel. Then the Qu'ran comes out and it retcons the last one like it never happened. There's still Jesus, but he's not the main character anymore and the Messiah hasn't shown up yet.

Jews like the first movie but ignored the sequels, Christians think you need to watch the first two, but the third movie doesn't count, Muslims think the third one was the best and Mormons liked the second one so much they started writing fanfiction that doesn't fit ANY of the series canon."

1. That's brilliant.
I think I'm like a film critic of the whole franchise, then. (Mormons writing fanfic! I think the "Left Behind" guys are doing that, too.)

2. That is brilliant. So does that mean $cientology...
...is the low-budget indie zombie flick that suddenly comes out of nowhere and makes millions?

Moonies: cheap Asian chop-socky knock-off of the Xianity franchise but still hugely profitable.

This is fun!

Heaven's Gate suicide cult, People's Temple: failed to develop strong franchise, straight to DVD cut-out bins.

Hottest low-budget indie release: Branch Davidians

5. I guess this would make the door to door types
those annoying pop-up ads for Netflixs that make me insist even if they were great I'd still want nothing to do with them because of the disruption.
