"Trends" for Gore?
The following two articles, one from today's Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/24/AR2008032402359.html?wpisrc=newsletter) and one from today's NYTimes (http://www.nytimes.com:80/2008/03/25/opinion/25brooks.html?th&emc=th) highlight some of what we see coming at us as Hillary and Barack continue to fight for the Dem. nomination. There have been assessments by some of the pundits and pols on TV that if Hillary wins PA with about 60% of the vote, and takes another major primary that follows (and I would guess IN would fall in that category) then, even though she would still never catch up with pledged delegates, she would battle on. This would continue to breed growing animosity between the camps for both candidates and clearly (IMHO) create a scenario where the party would need a unifying candidate to save the party from self destructing and losing big in November. That unifyier, of course, would be Al Gore. So, if things continue to play out as they appear they might at this point, hold tight and get those pens (or computers) ready to churn out some letters to your supers to let them know we can see a path to success in November and they should be able to see it also.

Stay tuned.

1. And check these 2 recent mentions of Gore
at the top of the ticket (actually, they're both the same source, but cited in 2 very different places):
http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2008/mar/24/mark-tomasik-dont-discount-gore-led-ticket/http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2008/mar/24/mark-tomasik-dont-discount-gore-led-ticket/

and: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/25/cafferty-gore-led-ticket-good-for-democrats/. I don't think this is the first time Cafferty has mentioned Gore as a possible compromise. But, this is today.

2. Wow. Just wow.
This is great coming from an elected official and super D who is willing to say it for attribution.

This quote really got me:

Mahoney said if the convention is deadlocked and either Clinton or Obama suggested a Gore-Obama or Gore-Clinton ticket, the party would accept it.

Doesn't get much clearer than that.
