Gore Will Endorse ... No One

The Nobel Laureate Won't Endorse at this Stage of 2008 Campaign

He won the popular vote in 2000, and saw his political clout grow to new heights in 2007, winning the Nobel Peace Prize, an Emmy, an Oscar and the respect of legions across the globe. He is credited with doing as much as humanly possible to raise the issue of global warming to the top of the world's agenda.

For those reasons, Al Gore has been seen as a king-maker among Democrats vying to be the party's 2008 presidential candidate.

But, according to the New York Sun, Gore won't endorse any candidate, at least not yet. Apparently his political capital is so great, he doesn't want to spend it on a loser (as he did last time around, with Howard Dean).

1. Howard was ANYTHING but a loser...
Dare I continue to hope he still has a plan and that is why he won't endorse?

Thanks for the threads lildreamer316... nice to see some activity here. I just can't find or think of anything to post that's upbeat or positive. Glad you found some items.

:hi:

2. That is my thought as well..
I can't really figure out why he would not endorse before this, unless he has plans of some sort. As of this time in 2004,he had made his Sherman statement, and I believe he had endorsed Howard also, although I could be wrong.

I stumbled upon a site that posts Gore news almost every day, so I will be culling and posting as it comes.

Gotta do something. Not happy with any other candidate, really.

3. I have never been this undecided about
any other election. I have to say I am very devastated and very sad that Gore is not running.

4. That statement made me see red
IIRC, none of the Dem candidates won. So wouldn't that make ALL of them losers? The MSM still has it out for Dean. He did say, during his campaign that he would bring back the Fairness Doctrine. That is when the MSM went after him full bore.

I do not believe for one second that the reason Al Gore has not endorsed someone, was because of Howard Dean. Does anyone believe Al Gore is afraid of losing political capital? That's hogwash!

In the comments section of the article, another article is posted. I found it interesting what was said about Obama:

Talk that Mr. Gore might come to the aid of Mr. Obama flared again last week, when the Illinois senator made a reference to the former vice president while meeting with voters in Portsmouth, N.H. "I talk to Al Gore about every three weeks," Mr. Obama said, according to NBC News.

Asked for more details, a spokeswoman for Mr. Obama's campaign, Jennifer Psaki, suggested that the senator is receiving guidance from the Nobel laureate.

"Senator Obama has a great deal of respect for Vice President Gore's commitment to and leadership on issues related to climate change and he appreciates his advice," Ms. Psaki said. She did not address questions about an endorsement. Aides to Mrs. Clinton and another Democratic candidate, John Edwards, did not respond to questions about contacts with Mr. Gore.

Since my state's primary is f'ing May 20, my vote will not count........... again. Therefore, I am still waiting...

7. Don't be too sure that it will be decided by May...
I think it just may be a toss up until the convention.

5. I think he isn't endorsing because no candidate is being bold enough to
deal with what we are facing. We have 5-7 years before the polar ice cap may disappear entirely during the summer. James Hansen has just revised what he believes is a level of CO2 in our atmosphere that will allow us to escape the worst of the climate crisis from 450 to 350. What is our current level? 383. Problem.

I am supporting John Edwards, but even he isn't going far enough -- not nearly far enough.

What we need is about 10,000 of these new solar power plants.

8. He will endorse the (D) after the convention,
especially if (R) is anyone other than McCain.

9. And if the convention is a draw between THREE
candidates and the convention delegates get another chance to vote, they may just choose a unity candidate. Here's hoping that the (D) he endorses is himself.
