Unit ordered NOT to ask Rumsfeld about uparmored humvees
From my sil yesterday, in Germany; 1st Armored, under orders for redeployment (2nd) to Iraq and also Stop Lossed (means indefinite combat tour); his unit was briefed last week and was told Rumsfeld to be visiting the unit and was given this directive;

'Do Not ask Rumsfeld about uparmored humvees on threat of an Article 15'

Why not? It's public knowledge there are production problems with getting the troops the uparmored humvees; it's public knowledge the question was already asked of Rumsfeld months ago by a soldier in the field; it's public knowledge the President responded that we need to do all we can to get the troops the protection they need; it's public knowledge that production of uparmored humvees is being done by only 1 company; it's public knowledge that production has not improved since that question was put to Rumsfeld.

Since my sil (and all of his unit + the other units of 1st Armored) has orders to redeploy to Iraq and is Stop Lossed, and situation in Iraq is worsening, what more logical question could they ask than what kind of equipment they will have during combat?

DU this please. I intend to take it further, and need to have more ideas, thoughts, framing and language than my immediate distress as military family. Thanks

5. Ask Rummy...Do you still plan to privatize Iraq's oil and build 14 bases

in Iraq?

Do you understand why that might piss people off and make them sympathetic to the insurgency?

6. Do you guys still plan to invade Iran? Are you going to extend our
enlistment or start the draft?

How will invading Iran make America safer?

7. A memo by a Tony Blair aide said you knew you were lying about Iraq
before the war.

Why don't you walk your sorry old ass down the streets of Baghdad and explain to people why you had to kill their kids, and grandma, and neighbors.

9. Why did you guys use a gay prostitute who faked being an ex-Marine?
Don't you know that lying about military service is offensive to people who actually served?

11. Come on, I really am asking for help here..
Appreciate the responses, but by now you well know that sarcasm jibes don't make good talking points. I need to draft an article and articulate it well enough to get it published in several venues. And I'm upset, so flowing words aren't flowing. Need some help here.

14. Hi WebeBlue! That's messed up but entirely typical
Wishing your sil safe and well!!!!!!

Once, during a TRADOC Generals visit to a post I once lived on, we as FRG leaders were asked to find 3 spouses to attend the meeting who would not "ask embarrassing questions"...Seriously, the Col was "polite" in his request but the CSM spelled it out in such a way that left no doubt...

No spouse that was known to be outspoken against the war, no spouse that would ask about pay/benefit problems....no spouse that would ask when the soldiers were coming home or how long they would be there...and nothing about logistic problems (food, water, supplies, equipment)
...we were asked to find "spouses with concerns they want addressed"...but with the above caveat...

15.  Recommend Topic for Greatest Page (2 votes)
Too bad you didn't get a 3rd vote. Recommend you post in GD with a "pointer" back to here so the earlier responses can be read. PM me when done and I will give support.

I was a member of the CGCS group when Rummie was asked about armor; our discussion was very extensive and I know for a fact was read by a couple members of Congress.

Keep up the good fight and get our soldiers home!
