Tim Hetherington: A Vanity Fair Portfolio

Award-winning conflict photographer Tim Hetherington published some of his best work in Vanity Fair and on VF.com. In 2007, he began a yearlong assignment with fellow V.F. contributor Sebastian Junger, together following a battalion of American troops stationed in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley. The time they spent in Afghanistan became the basis for their documentary Restrepo, a spellbinding, apolitical account of modern warfare that was nominated for a 2010 Oscar. Hetherington was killed on April 20, 2011, while covering the conflict in Libya.
