Former Marine faces torture, assault charges

A former Marine has been charged with torture, sexual assault and aggravated mayhem after he allegedly ordered his wife to castrate a man she was having an affair with, sodomized her and slashed off her hair, authorities said.

Robert A. McClain, 34, who was working on a probationary basis for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, is being held on $1 million bail and faces up to life in prison for the alleged sexual torture, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

McClain entered the Corps on Nov. 15, 1992, and served as a field radio operator. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon before he was released from active duty as a private first class on Sept. 16, 1996, according to Marine Corps records.

The twisted episode began Sunday when McClain’s wife allegedly informed her husband she was leaving him for a younger co-worker. Authorities are not releasing the name of McClain’s wife or the other victim.

McClain allegedly lured his wife and her new lover to the victim’s apartment. While there, McClain allegedly used a knife to force the victims to undress and then took off his own clothes. He is accused of ordering his wife to perform oral sex on both him and the victim, the DA’s office said.
