Guard, Reserve transfer program renewed

Programs that offer National Guard and Army Reserve officers an opportunity to transfer to the active component have been renewed for 2009.

Included in the changes to Call to Active Duty, or CAD, is a special category for lieutenants of the Individual Ready Reserve.

The programs do not apply to officers who are participating in a presidential call-up of reserves, or partial or full mobilization.

The Call to Active Duty, or CAD, programs are different from the ongoing Recall to Active Duty program, which is targeted at retired aviators in the ranks of major and CW3 through CW5.

The CAD programs do apply to officers assigned to troop units, and the Individual Mobilization Augmentee and Individual Ready Reserve programs.
