YOKOHAMA, Japan — A U.S. military helicopter carrying five personnel made an emergency landing on a tract of sediment in the middle of the Sagami River in Sagamihara shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, but no one appears to have been injured, police said.

The military personnel were quoted by police as saying that transmission trouble forced them to land.

The transport chopper is attached to Yokota Air Base, according to the U.S. military.
