More than 200 Air Force members and local business and political leaders attended a groundbreaking ceremony April 29 for the second phase of a major housing privatization project at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

The project includes new home construction and historic home restoration, and will add 1,118 homes to the 1,356 homes already privatized by the Air Force at Hickam, according to a base news release.

The developer for the project is Actus Lend Lease, which was selected to manage the housing for 50 years.

The homes on Hickam will feature green technology, said David Falls, vice president and project director.

“Our homes will be among the most energy-efficient homes to Air Force families and will keep alive our mission to care for our environment so that it is a long-term fit in our island state,” Falls said in a news release.
