I think part of their dilemma is that he is very affable but
incredibly passive aggressive. I agree with you that he does have a history of weird behavior because he throws just enough red meat and then backs off causing many of his co-workers to feel as if they may over-react or are over reacting. So race is not the only factor. He is an equal opportunity ass.

After going off on the boss, he spoke at length to him and wept about his marital situation and how he doesn't even have a bank account in his own name because his wife is so domineering. "I'll lose my kids if I lose this job. I'll do anything to keep this job. blah-blah-blah," promising to get counseling. Feeling very sorry for him, I guess they thought public humiliation would do the trick

1. Well, here we go again. Very sorry about this.
You know, I go out of the way to make sure I only have one screen open and this double posting still happens! Admins don't respond to my call for help either. Getting to the point of being afraid to post. At least I didn't hijack someone's thread this time.

3. You may be on to something.
It is just the darnedest thing. I know when I'm upset or emotional - this sounds crazy - funny things happen with the computer when I'm working offline. I edit transcripts for local and national news networks, so I try to keep my emotions in check.

It's happened a couple of times in another group but in this group, I try extra hard but it never fails, if the topic is emotional I can just be sitting and thinking and BAM, it goes haywire. It must be magic telling me to get grip
