"A Girl Like Me" a film by high school student Kiri Davis
I stumbled on a recommendation for this film at another website...not DU.
i was intrigued because a 16 year old African American female followed up on a 1950s study of which doll young black children would choose as "good" from between a choice of two identical dolls, except that one is black.
This short film, 7 minutes has been an award winner and is now studied by the teachers at several school districts.
"Color is more than skin deep for young African American women struggling to define themselves."

And very sad with the children and the doll test. I only counted two that chose the black doll. I am sure when I was their age, I would have chosen the white doll too.
