38 Studios Acquires Big Huge Games
http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewstory&threadid=98633

This is pretty depressing news, 38 Studios is owned by right wing douchebag Curt Schilling. I would really love to see Brian Reynolds and friends just walk out and go back to Firaxis.

For those unfamiliar with what I'm going on about here, a little background.

Brian Reynolds worked with Sid Meier on Civ 2 (at least) and was the lead designer for Alpha Centuari/Alien Crossfire, some of the best turn based strategy games ever made (IMHO). He left Firaxis to form Big Huge Games and created Rise of Nations (and the expansion Thrones and Patriots), a real time strategy game. RoN managed to take most of the depth and strategy of a turn based game and put it into a real time game. If your a fan of either genre, this is a must have game.

1. Nasty.
I agree with you that AC/AX were some of the best games ever made. I really, really, really hope Sid decides to update and re-release them.
