Psychic Incident (long)
Edited on Wed Apr-29-09 12:26 AM by NJCher
Latest Psychic Incident!

This one's a "DU-zy!"

I haven't had a good psychic incident in awhile so I wanted to tell you about this one. Actually two.

The most interesting one first:

I have a student named Ursula in a class I'm teaching (Group Comm).

A couple days ago, I was thinking about a story to illustrate a point I wanted to make to my class. The point I was making was that it's worthwhile to spend time and effort learning about oneself because it saves on making expensive decisions.

We are doing the Myers-Briggs (ENTJ, INFP, etc.) and the students are using this information to improve their communication in group situations.

I thought of this person I used to work with. His name is "Conrad." Conrad was a lawyer who found he didn't like the practice of law, so he became a marketing manager.

Well, that's a pretty expensive education for a marketing manager, not to mention all the effort, work, and difficulty involved in becoming an attorney.

When I thought of him as an example, a picture of his face "floated in" but so did a picture of my student Ursula. I only momentarily questioned if the two had anything to do with each other but I shrugged it off, thinking that my mind is a picture parade each day and that the two appearing in proximity was just part of the "parade."

OK, now flash forward to today and I tell the story to the class. Ursula's hand shot up and she said Conrad's last name and the corporation for which he worked, I worked, and she worked. I was astonished that she knew him. After all, this is freaking NYC we're talking about here.

Combine this with the fact that I'd just finished telling the class about the "I" in the personality profiles--the Intuitives. I told the class that Intuitives frustrate the Sensers because the Sensers don't understand people who seemingly get their information from "out of the air."

So after class, my student came up to me and asked if she could make an appointment with me in my office. I told her to drop by in an hour or so, which she did.

She came to the office to tell me she had been searching for a former executive from the company to interview. Ursula told me she was desperate for an interview with a former exec from that company and she'd been calling and calling her former colleagues for weeks but hadn't found anyone. She named off the list of people she called and I recognized many of the names--they were all people I'd worked with decades ago!

What a trip down memory lane that was.

So I agreed to supply interview information for my student's academic project.

Anyway, I think it is interesting, this confluence of events that all resulted in my student getting her interview.

Now for my other story.

Four days before Bea Arthur's death, I got a message in that said "Bea Arthur is not long for this earth." Then four days later, I got a message, "Bea Arthur has died." When I checked DU (about the only place I get my news at really busy times of the semester, like now), I saw the threads about her. I don't watch the media much at all anymore.

Now, what's interesting about this last story is that I don't use those terms. The first one is the same message I got ("not long for this earth") when I saw my neighbor's bulldog on the side of her house. I also do not use the term "died," as I do not believe in it. I just believe we "cross over," so I have changed my use of the term "died."

So this indicates to me that when I get these messages, they are coming from someone--someone who would use such terminology.

Just as a point of interest, I never was a fan of Bea Arthur, for various reasons not worth going into. So why I got this message is a mystery to me!

1. Wow, Cher, you have the most amazing stories.
I remember one of the other ones that you shared with us about your student and the gym. It's interesting that both of these were about your students.

I'm with you on the Bea Arthur thing. What's up there? Very cool though that you got the information.

Thanks so much for sharing them with us. I love your stories. :)

4. flower attack!
Awww, you guys are terrific. I am always excited when these psychic things happen and having the people on this board to tell them to makes it even more fun.

Actually, I remembered another psychic incident from a couple weeks ago.

As I've told you, my neighbor in the mansion (Karen) and I are very good friends. There is another family back here in the woods, and they are an older couple who has been battling old age for quite some time. It has always amazed me how they keep on going--what with cancer, heart problems, and all sorts of afflictions that strike in old age. Good insurance is the answer. They are very reclusive and only go out once in awhile.

Well, a few weeks ago the husband crossed over. One night after the funeral, my neighbor (Karen) and I went to see Anita, the wife. Karen had earlier ordered sandwiches sent over from Whole Foods and I took flowers from my garden and a sympathy card.

Anita had family there and introduced us and insisted we stay. Pretty soon she started getting out the food and the table was piled high with all kinds of delicious food that had been sent to them. As Anita was getting out the various items, she looked at Karen and I and very frustrated, she exclaimed, "It's crazy around here! Things have been flying all over the place!" Another family member said, "Yes, I was hit in the chest with a flower! It jumped out of the arrangement and hit me in the chest!" Anita added that straws had flown across the room, a wacked up piece of paper had hit her in the forehead, dishes had been knocked to the floor, and other items that I can't remember. Anita said, "I think it's him." Everyone nodded, acknowledging it was their dad or grandfather.

So later I was thinking about this. I think the mystery was why the behavior seemed so aggressive--being hit by flowers, wacked up pieces of paper, etc. And then it hit me: what was happening is that indeed he was there but he was frustrated that everyone was having a good old time and he was being ignored because they thought him "dead." And that is why he was throwing the flowers and pencils and pieces of paper around. He was saying, "Pay attention to me! Here I am! Notice me!!!"

Another thing that makes me think this is that while I didn't know him very well, a lot of the neighbors who did would always say about him that he was quite the conversational piggie. He loved to talk about himself and his glorious career as a management consultant. No one, according to them, could get him to shut up about it once he got started. He loved being the center of attention. And dear Anita, all these years, heard those stories over and over and over.... :)

And so there he was, even after he crossed over, trying to be the center of attention. Amuses the daylights out of me.

I think he's been around my house, too. The reason I think this is that I told Anita to watch out for pennies--that this is often a sign they leave to let you know they've been around and that things are OK.

When Karen and I left that night, Anita gave us some potted plants to take with us. These are plants that had been ordered for the funeral. Karen was given a hyacinth and I was given a white chrysanthemum. So now I know I have to put the chrysanthemum in the garden as a reminder of Don. I've been a little slow to get that done, though, as it's gardening season and I'm putting in all kinds of edible plants. Don keeps leaving pennies around, though, to remind me!

I guess I'll plant that mum outside tomorrow, though. He might hit me in the head with the plant if I don't!

5. LOL!
You DO know interesting people.

The only drawback to attending one of your classes is I would know you were reading my mind!

7. those were neat stories!
and in the first one you turned out to be of great help to the student.

I know what you mean about not knowing why you get information(ie Bea Arthur). I've had that happen to me, but in my case it was a call to action. Turned out that what I did helped the person I didn't know in a way he couldn't help himself.
