Dream Question

My daughter e-mailed me this morning practically begging me to check through my Dream books to help her interpret this dream. I don't even think I have those dream books anymore - but what do you guys think?

She was in a ocean, she says not on the beach, but in a ocean in an auditorim, floating with the waves.

Any ideas?

She's talking about getting pregnant next year. I have always thought of water as being "creative", emotional, spiritual.

She says she was floating with the waves, but did it feel right to her? I have dreamt something similar when I could not make a decision and it was bothering me, and then when I woke I decided to become "grounded" enough to make up my mind! I did, and felt much better.

Of course, her life could be well grounded, I think dreams mean different things to different people, depending on how they were raised and what their belief system is. Watery is also very fertile, eh? It could have something to do with her body getting ready for carrying a child?

2. I had the same thought, about her body getting ready to carry

a child. We do "float" in amniotic fluid before we are born, so perhaps the dream is a reflection of a path she would really like to travel -- being a parent.

3. OMG

That is what I suggested to her - perhaps it is a sign that she's very fertile right now - and she e-mailed me back saying that there was a child on her stomach but she knew the child wasn't her's but that she was just floating backhanded with the child on her belly.

So after speaking with her several times now, she was on antibiotics the past month, steriods, and other medicines due to a bronchial infection and she is really really worried that she might be pregnant and is afraid because she took all these meds. I have tried my best to tell her I don't think they would be that harmful being that she is probably very early along. But I do know that antibiotics do mess with birth control pills and make them ineffective.

All I know to do is just to tell her to quit worrying. I think she is going to get a preg test tonight.

4. Hi Tnoe-

Since the pregnancy question is uppermost in both your minds, it could refer to that. Another interesting thing is that the ocean was in an auditorium, a place that is often connected to school, or a place where we might go to hear a concert or a lecture- or to watch a sports event. Energy waves can be as water, ie fertility, or as air waves. Meaning thoughts, communications. So it could be the dream is showing your daughter still deciding about the right timing. Or, the auditorium could show something about the child. iow, the auditorium symbolizing an aspect of the child's personality. Anyway, it sounds pretty exciting.

5. FWIW...

My sense is that she is putting it out there (about becoming pregnant) ...almost like she is sending out feelers to the soul of the one who would be her child...just kind of gently floating on the waters of possibities. This is almost as though she is trying out, "auditioning" (in the auditorium) for the "Mom part"....hence her floating around with a baby that wasn't (yet) to be hers.

Sounds like a lovely happy place to be...tell her not to worry about the meds...don't put any fear out there! :)

6. WOW! This really makes sense for me!

I've had a few dreams recently of having a baby with me or taking one with me that I had a connection with and take care of but knowing it wasn't mine...hmmm...I wonder.

What you said seems to really make sense for what the dream means.
That she could be auditioning for the mom part, and that could show why she was floating in an auditorium, and holding a baby that wasn't yet hers.

7. Freud claimed water dreams meant pregnancy.

I remember reading that in Psych class back 20 or 25 years ago...

I also remember reading an article that talked about women being more likely to dream about water when ovulating. I always kind of wondered about it and about the possibility that dreams might be yet another help in natural family planning using fertility awareness.

I stuck to a thermometer, personally... :)
