Well, I was watching a three-part series of an interview with the author of "The Fluoride Deception", Christopher Bryson. In it he interviews Dr. Phyllis Mullenix; one of the many doctors that has found that fluoride, even in small amounts, is a neurotoxin.

Now I know this news is not really *news* to most here, but when I checked the links here : http://www.fluoridealert.org/ ; specifically http://fluoridealert.org/iq.studies.html , and the list of how much fluoride is in our food http://www.fortcollinscwa.org/pages/fluoride.htm (has link to USDA report); it just occurred to me that the reason so many people seem to have a lower IQ may be that they have been poisoned with fluoride.

Just a thought, I could be off base. Just trying to keep an open mind.

1. I just thought it was because they just hate all things American
anti-Americanism is rife on DU, especially tonight, with live posts in GD about "stoopid Murican" tourists.

as for flouride, I was reading something on how it might be responsible for slowing down your thyroid & interfering with iodine absorption.

2. I can go with that too.
I don't personally think that many Americans are stupid, but I just wondered if this has any connection to a lot of people just not being very forward-thinking,etc. It certainly can't help.

I get really tired of the 'stupid' meme.

3. Let me tell you about my awesome dentist.
One of her hygienists was in another room. Said hygienist was talking to a male patient about fluoride.
He said "The Nazis gave it to people to keep them quiet."
She said fluoride was OK.
Dentist was working on Dear Hubby. She finally said, "Victoria! Just STOP! Fluoride is NOT good for ANYBODY!"

This lady also rips out mercury fillings. And disinfects sockets and holes for bad buggies.
She took out two root canals on me, and replaced all my fillings with Cerex.

The American Dental Association has been sued by dentists who say their free speech rights have been infringed. The ADA would throw out any dentist who spoke out and said mercury was not safe. The EPA says it's the most toxic non-radioactive substance out there. So the ADA probably wants dentists to say, "Well, gee, it's better than PLUTONIUM!"

:banghead:

5. Well just google "fluoride mind control drug" and read some
of the postings at those sites. Wear your :tinfoilhat:. I'm sure, however, there is more truth than fiction.

When I was in the 5th (1960) grade, my family lived in Germany, where Dad was stationed. All of the children who attended Dept. of Defense schools were taken in buses to the medical facilities on the base to have their teeth painted with fluoride. I still remember the horrible, bitter taste of that stuff.

6. Trashed educational system.
Edited on Sun Jan-30-11 07:25 PM by BlueIris
Abusive society. To me, the food pollutants aren't the root of the problem. Some of the nastiest, most ignorant jerkoffs I've ever met were raised on pure, organic nutrition and drank their water from Oregon's flouride-free systems.

Don't think flouride can be blamed for the bulk of our dysfunction.

7. It would be nice if we had a neat, convenient scapegoat...
... to blame for all of society's ills. That's rarely ever the case.

An overabundance of fluoride probably doesn't help matters any; dumbing down IQs by one or two key points if it does have any neurological effect, but it is certainly not the root cause of stupidity. I personally want to blame television and mass marketing culture for that more so than additives in the drinking water.

8. that is very interesting.
Maybe the Birchers were on to something with their fluoride rants. I feel really luck that most of my life my water has come from springs or wells in the country.

9. My dentist wants me to use it in a mouthwash.
I didn't want to but didn't have a good reason to refuse. Now I do. As a senior who is suffering from senior memory issues, I don't think I should be using anything that hurries it along.

11. I refuse on the grounds that it messes up my thyroid
and I will refuse for my son for the same reason (he has a good chance of inheriting the family's very prevalent thyroid disease).

I should note that I have less of a problem with an occasional fluoride rinse than a regular mouthwash or drinking it in water. Coating the tooth is one thing; dumping it into your stomach to send it through your entire system is quite another.

10. Fluoride toothpaste has a Poison Control warning on it
and the staff in my dentist's office was surprised to see that. :o

Like said above, the problem is far more extensive than just fluoride in drinking water.

12. Oh, absolutely, I agree.
Fluoride used to be part of the thyroid medicine for overactive thyroids, so I can believe it. I have quit using it for many years. Daughter is off of it too.
