It is considered a very great honor and special level of trust and sharing to disclose the contents of your Medicine bag.
Unless you know and love and trust a person very much...do NOT let them touch any of the items or you will have to either cleanse them and return them to the Earth Mother with thanks....or cleanse them and give them to another...thereby making the object a gift of Spirit for them.
Even if you love the person and they are negative and touch your medicine objects it will change the energy and you don't want that. So just be aware and careful is all so that your energy, time and effort is not wasted or the Medicine not there when you need it most.
If someone does effect the energy, you can try cleansing the item and trying again but if it doesn't work..you will have to return it or cleanse and give it away.
Your medicine bag can be any kind of a bag and made of anything that is special to you.
Traditionally the medicine bag is made by hand by the wearer and if possible it is made out of the hide of your Totem but can also just be a hide.
A store bought bag or someone giving you a bag can also work just as good as long as you remember to cleanse it with the Elements of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth and by prayers to the Spirit.
You may put your own Totem symbols on the bag and that will let other people know what Clan/Totem you are as well as it invokes the help of your Spirit helper/Totem.
You can also put any other things or symbols that has a spiritual meaning to you personally on your bag....and many just like to leave the bag undecorated.
I feel putting forth the effort and energy makes it even more powerful...but again it is up to the individual. Some people just love things plain and that is all good too.
You will find if you make a cloth bag that a silk cord will open and close the bag the easiest and be softest on your neck and skin.
Now to the important part.
HOW TO FIND YOUR MEDICINE
What is the "Medicine" and what is it used for?
Your Medicine is a gift directly from Our Earth Mother/Creator/God/Goddess to you...the child of God/Spirit.
It is used as a tool to center ourselves and bring us back into the moment of Power which is ALWAYS "here now" and EMOTIONALLY centered in the immediate time zone....and especially when depressed or feeling abandoned, heart broken etc.
HOW TO GET YOUR MEDICINE/SPIRIT GIFTS.
FIRST: "Intend"
Ask your highest idea of God/Goddess/Spirit to help you to make and use Medicine of the Spirit.
You will need to wait until you are centered and having a wonderful time and are at the level of how you would always want to feel.
Do not worry about going out of your way to find a gift...it will come to you and will in be in your path.
Just let your eyes and feet guide you and you will find your gifts..ment only for you.
For example..if it is a sea shell or anything from the water or crescent shaped.....it is a gift of the Element Water.
If it is a rock or mineral or wood or squared then it is of the Element Earth.
If it is triangle or metal or comes out of a fire...it is of the Element Fire.
If it is round or a feather or comes from the sky...it is of the element Air.
If someone gives it to you out of the blue it is considered a Gift of Spirit/love.
You will know it as a power object for you when you see it..because ..for example...out of all the rocks it is the one that calls to you the most...out of all the seashells..it is the one that captures your attention and feelings the most...ect.
Go to a spot you can be alone for a few moments....do not do this in front of others as it will detract from your focus/Intent.
A man holds the power object against the skin over his solar plexus with both hands. (right under the bottom of the rib cage above the belly button)
A woman holds the power object against the skin over the womb area..holding it with both hands..(right below the belly button)
You can do this over your clothing..it is not necessary to hold it only on the flesh...just in the right area.
The energy centers in the palms will allow you to pour your feelings into that object as well as holding the hands together will close your energy circuit from outside energy interfering.
You then sit or stand still and meditate on how you are feeling and what you were doing and who you were with and what you saw...until you feel you have captured that moment in your heart and then you put the object into your Medicine bag.
WHEN YOU USE YOUR MEDICINE BAG
You only use it when alone and when in dire need of help from Spirit.
Never lay your bag or the contents on the ground (earth grounds out energy remember)..and you take out each item...one by one.
Hold each item/object the same way you did when you put it into the bag. Remember the feeling, the day, who you were with, the fun you had and the love you felt. Focus only on remembering that moment as best as you can.
As you feel each item and the feelings they invoke, lay them in front of you on something so they don't touch the earth (a log or a leaf, a scarf, a hat, whatever) but where your eyes can see them or you can feel them.
By the time you get to the end of the items in your Medicine bag you will be re-centered and back in Power.
One by one thank each object/Element and put it back into your bag.
If any of your Medicine no longer invokes those special feelings and memories...it is time to either return it to the Earth Mother in a respectful manner or the Element it came from and with thanks or you may cleanse it and give it to another as a special Spiritual Gift of love from your heart to theirs.
