I keep having dreams where it is almost impossible to move my legs.
The dreams are all different in terms of setting and what's going on around me, but I am inevitably in a spot where I need to get up from where I'm sitting, or walk across a room, and I can't make my legs move. It's not like they're paralyzed in the sense that I can't feel them; I do feel them, but I can't make them move. I'm having these dreams more and more frequently, and they always freak me out until I'm fully awake and realize that I CAN move my legs.

Last night's dream was especially weird. I had walked out to my car, and when I got close to the driver's side door, my legs couldn't hold me up any more and I sank to the sidewalk. It was dirty, and these bugs were crawling toward me, and then (I am NOT joking here), Rush Limbaugh was standing over me, spewing his "lovely" brand of hatred. I was going into a full-blown panic because I couldn't get up and get away from the dirt and the bugs, and the hatred.

I don't know if I'm trying to tell myself that I'm stuck, or what, but these dreams really bother me.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

1. my first thoughts - symbolic of lack of grounding and not enough connection to the lower body
are you a person who tends to live in your head? do you have a comfortable connection with physicality and all it entails? could your lower chakras need a bit more help so they function as well as your upper chakras?

2. Shallah, I hadn't even thought of that. I don't know if that's it, but
it's a good suggestion for me to check out. I do live in my head a lot, but usually, I notice when I'm doing that, and reground myself.

Thanks.

3. Hi, SG! I've only once had a series of dreams with a theme.
Mine all focused on trying to shower in different places and either not being able to find a shower or trying to shower without being seen naked. (Such as in the middle of a crowded restaurant... :eyes:)

I had mine at least once every few weeks, and they were always different with that one common theme. I was going crazy trying to figure out what it meant. At a certain point, my boyfriend at the time and I broke up, and I never once have had a dream with that theme again in over 10 years. Therefore, my theme-based dream was certainly trying to tell me something. (Either my subconscious mind or my higher self was trying to get through to me.)

I wonder if something similar is happening for you. It was very, very frustrating because even when I tried to think of it as trying to get myself clean and not being able to do so, I couldn't tell whether it was in reference to my job (which was really, really stressful at the time), my relationship (where I felt stuck), or something else.

I can completely understand how your particular theme would be really upsetting. :(

4. I haven't had a repeating theme in dreams in years.
When I was in grade school, I kept having a dream where a giant would come over, pick my dad up, and start pulling his fingers off. That one was pretty easy to figure out: there was a high school boy who lived across the street, and he was really tall. Me and the other kids my age used to call him a giant.

The other theme series was where my parent's were fighting, and my dad would pick my mom up and throw her into a drainage ditch. I hated those dreams.

As far as the dreams now, either I am not grounded as was suggested, or I'm feeling paralyzed about something and not sure what to do.

5. When we have dreams of trying to move and we cant move...or
we find ourselves falling or sinking...or we just feel like we are paralized..what is happening is actually not a bad thing.
What happens is..as we start to awaken more in consciousness and we begin to gain dream control, we will find ourselves becoming conscious that we are dreaming or just partly conscious during different parts of the out of body projection into our astral/dreaming body or the reverse...from our dreaming body back into our physical body.. to or from the dream plane.
So what you have described is a perfect example of becoming partly conscious during a projection..either to or from the physical body.
Those things will pass and/or you will learn ways to help yourself move.
We move according to our Intent/and our thoughts.
So it is a struggle to try to do something like move a portion of our bodies, but it is easy to move if you just Intend to move. See in your mind where you want to be.
For example if you become partly lucid while projecting back to your body and you feel you cant get back into the body or move..stop trying to move..and just start to imagine how it feels to feel your finger tips and toes from inside your body..and you will move to that position.
To have a repeat/sign post dream is very good and the reason is also simple. We can use it as a tool to let our dreaming self know we are dreaming.
We tell ourselves/program ourselves as we fall asleep that: "If I have such and such a dream tonight..I will KNOW that I am dreaming."
Then don't forget to tell yourself that.."once I know I am dreaming..I will look at my hand."
You could tell yourself to look at anything..your belly button, your big toe etc...the point is...to give the command before you get into the situation and to give the command to look at something that will always be there with you..such as your hand.
There will come a time that you will find yourself in the repeat dream and you will suddenly know you are dreaming and then you will find yourself looking at your hand (or whatever). Once you see your hand, you will then be able to put your hand down and start to consciously explore the inner planes and your gifts and powers on that plane.
Its tons of fun.

8. I was thinking that too, that SG is trying to do some astral projecting and she
starts to wake up because for some reason or the other she doesn't want to and her legs feel like they can't move.

6. like she just said
Sleep paralysis is normal...and when you are aware of it that means that you are becoming more conscious in your dream state...

It sounds like you are contacting a lower level of the astral, where the bugs and fear reside...i developed my own meditation years ago for when i was having the most AWFUL spider nightmares and waking up screaming :puke:

Every night as i was drifting off, i would enter a glass elevator and push the button for the top floor and watch as the lower levels flashed by...then i would open the door to a beautiful peaceful scene...did this over and over for an indeterminate time and suddenly all the bad dreams disappeared 90% of the time...

One of my recuring dreams is that i am driving a car with my eyes shut, yet i can see everything :wtf:

7. Thats correct moonbeam and that is a very good way to change the level ...
we find ourselves at the level we are vibrating at...so if we are stressed etc we often find ourselves at the lowest levels of the astral/dreaming plane where all the negative thought-forms and nightmares take place.
We learn to tell "where" we are on each plane by the scenery.
So if you are seeing a scary scene..you are on the lower levels.
The more frightened you become in your dream, the scarier the dream becomes and this is because the scenery we are seeing is our own thought-forms manifesting as the scenery..before we are consciously aware that we are the ones thinking them.
Therefor..we can change the level and the scenery just by changing the way we think. :)
As a song I once wrote says...

"These are the days of our lives...
The things you do tomorrow..are what you thought today..
try to make a difference as you try to find your way..
Take a look around you..do you like what you see?
How will the children..tell our history?
You can change the whole world..if you'll only change your mind..
whats the use in crying..for things we'll leave behind..
for these are the days of our lives....

Its the same on the inner-planes...thoughts are things..things are thoughts.

..I have tons of fun doing that one....if I could find a new place to upload songs I would upload it for you all in here..
I had a place on line I was using but I used up all my free bandwidth there already :P and gotta find a new place.
I left out the choruses and stuff and just gave you the jest of the song.. :)
We actually named the song Dayz of our Livez...so we wouldn't get in trouble with the tv soap oprah..heh

Because you are so encouraging...I shall post another song's words here just for you..

The song is called Secret Garden..

There is a Secret Garden,
The way is hard to find..
The only way to travel there
is journey through your mind..
Listen to the secret..whispered the wind..
looking deep within our hearts we'll find the way again.

The road is hard to travel,
we search to find the way..
The journey takes a million years..
or just a single day..
Listen to the Secret..whispered in the wind..
looking deep within our hearts..we'll find the way again.

The Morning Star's returning,
it is a brand new day..
Light has come back to the earth
and love will find the way...
Listen to the Secret..whispered in the wind..
looking deep within our hearts
we'll find the way again

11. Most of my dreams have had the theme of my trying to warn
friends & family of dangers in my dreams, but they can't see or hear me. I always wake up frustrated & worried because of it. In a sense I think that might be similar to not being able to move. There is an isolation & frustration element to both.

I have no insight for you, just empathy.

14. Thank you, southerncrone
Even if people don't always have insights, it's good to know that one is not alone isn't it?

 <--back to you.
