Poll question: My sweet idiot dog just snarfled up a 325 mcg aspirin. Emergency?
She weighs 35 pounds and is 6 years old.

I dropped them and told her not to eat them but while I was picking them up, she nabbed one. Blech.

I read up online and it looks like if it were tylenol or advil we'd be going to Doggie ER, but as it was aspirin, I should just calm down and let it pass.

DU, what say you?

1. Watch her and take her tomorrow.
What a sweet face! I love it when doggies sniff the camera. They are so cute.

Another option could be to call a twenty-four hour emergency veterinary line. I know they have pet poison hotlines, too. Something like that may reassure you.

Please come back and let us know!

6. Hey brother! Howzit!
We're all hanging in over here. No doubt our President will prevail in the coming elections in Hawaii. Maybe we should plan on going to the continent to help.

Sending you aloha, hope your studies are going great. A hui hou!

3. Our vet suggested baby aspirin for our Broder Collie
She's of indeterminate age, but surely north of 10 years old. She's a little slow getting up, although she still runs like all get-out. She appears to have a touch of arthritis. The aspirin gives her relief.

5. I give my guys aspirin as needed
I have three large dogs. One of them is older and sometimes I'll give him two regular aspirins in some food. I would just wait and see. I think she will be fine as long as she doesn't have any weird allergies. Good luck! Cute photo too! :hi:

11. Thanks for the update, and glad all is well.
These furry buggers are always putting us through something! I bet she felt great if she has any little aches or pains that she doesn't even know she has---nothing like pain killer!

Good to hear all is well. :hi:

12. Tylenol isn't toxic to dogs. Myth.
My last springer prior to the current one was on Tylenol #4, 300 mg of Acetaminophen/60 mg Codeine every 6 to 8 hours for close to a year when he was in the latter stages of multiple myeloma. I thought the same thing too when the vet first gave me the prescription.

They need to be monitored for liver issues when on acetaminophen, but it can be effectively and safely used in dogs under certain circumstances. Should only be done under the direction and supervision of a vet.

The springer before him was on buffered aspirin for arthritis back in the 1980's also per the vet.
