Should I?
It's been about 10 days since I had to say goodbye to my old friend. Rest in Peace, Hon.

The dog that is left is showing signs of being bored and depressed.

It seems this fine critter is available - has his shots and has been fixed. Appears to be some kind of wirehair doxie/terrier mix.

I've got my reservations - but it seems like this dog belongs here.,

1. Oh, what a cutie! How can you resist?
Sometimes I think that our critters who leave us make arrangements for us not to stay lonesome for them too long. Maybe this little guy turned up just now for a reason.

thoughtfully,
Bright

Not very well apparently.

He's asleep at my feet right now.

Staying the night and here on a trial basis.

I actually think maybe I am supposed to take this particular pup home.

He met my old dog during my final days - and was friendly toward him.

He's asleep at my feet right now.

Staying the night and here on a trial basis.

12. Is he asleep at your feet? Spending the night on a trial basis?
That is a really great idea. You have to know it is a good fit for you and your current dog. I do hope it goes well, that is a great looking dog. Looks like he will be hard to take back. Best wishes.

13. He came
for a couple of hours last week to meet by current dog. That went well enough for him to come back.

I'm concerned for my current dog who is already a bit out of sorts.

I rescued a dog a few years back and once I got him home it was apparent that the rescue group had grossly misrepresented the state of his health. The dog was not able to walk 4 houses down the street. It became clear that he felt bad and was in poor health. I figured I was well ahead to take the dog back to the rescue group and surrender that adoption fee. I hated doing it but I felt like I had been deceived.

14. I hope this one works out better. Some rescue groups are so
enthusiastic that they will not see the forest for the trees. They don't realize that a poor fit or not telling the truth to someone just hurts their reputation. I am really glad that many are now allowing a trial period. At least they are doing that here. My problem is that it is a week trial, and cats will not adapt within a week's time. But a wonderful idea. They tell me that it takes about a week for dogs to settle down with each other---or not.

15. UPDATE
This fine critter has been here just over a week now. He's a very good boy.

My other dog remains wary of him. As do the bunnies that live under the storage barn.

Looks like he's staying.
