1. I've only had experience with Orijen dog food
They seemed to like it at first, but not so much after the second bag.

From what I've read in the past, Evo seems to be very highly recommended.

3. All my furkids except the birds
eat Evo. They love it and I wish I had discovered it when they were younger because I think they would be healthier now. Two cats have/had diabetes and that is when I discovered Evo. Switched the dogs after reading up on food and put the ferrets on it soon as they started making ferret food. Have to take the all on it back, my oldest kitty is CRF and is on a special kidney diet. He would much rather (and tries to sneak) eat Evo.

4. Cats I know don't recommend Orijen
Edited on Fri Apr-09-10 02:21 AM by tencats
Dry Cat food formulas made by Innova I currently will serve part time equally EVO Turkey & Chicken Formula, EVO
Herring & Salmon Formula and EVO Weight Management Formula but its not well accepted by all the cats. I continue to find the Innova product inconsistent in quality or so that what the cats have shown me. The companion product to Orijen made by Champion Pet Foods CA is the Acana which I am liking more and more although I have only been on to it going on four months now. The cats like all 3 formulas so far and I like it because of the lower protein content. My most used/consumed cat kibble by volume is made by Natures Variety, the Instinct grain-free Rabbit Meal formula followed by their grain-free Chicken Meal formula. I really am liking that Rabbit and all my cats like it very much too. Also I can recommend Katz-n-Flocken Cat Food (lamb) made by Solid Gold Health Products for Pets. The Go Natural product I haven't come across yet.

5. Thanks so much. How often do you rotate food brands?
I can't get Attila to eat wet foods. Any suggestions?

6. None of my cats have liked the Innova wet foods, except one liked the
rabbit a bit. We've had better luck with Wellness (turkey & salmon, turkey, chicken) and two of them have liked Paul Newman wet food.

My vet said many clients have had difficulty getting their cats to accept "healthy" food, e.g., over Meow Mix and Fancy Feast.

14. None of my cats eat wet foods
I was feeding them Life's Abundance for the longest time and still am. You can buy this online and have it shipped to your door which is very convenient.

Here is the link to it FYI:
http://www.healthypetnet.com/HealthyPetNet/Products/ProductList.aspx?realname=&cat=0&hdr=&Ath=False&category=Cat_Food%28Pet_Base%29

They do sell samples for >$5.00 if you are interested.

The cons on it are the fat content and it is made with primarily chicken and chicken FAT which is not that great IMO. (?)

Two of my cats are rather overweight and recently I began feeding the Katz-N-Flocken Gold dry food. It has about 10 grams less fat than Life's Abundance dry cat food does (11 grams of fat).

At first the overweight cat was the only one eating this but now all three of them are eating it. By reading the ingredients it seems to be a high quality food.

I hope this helps! :D

7. Never used Go, but I've used the others
my cat has a limited attention span. He will eat heartily through a 10-15 pound bag, then suddenly turn up his nose. So, I usually rotate brands depending on sales, etc. Orijen and Evo are both on the rotation. He isn't as enthusiastic about Orijen, but that's just the opinion of one rather bizarre cat

9. Our vet
said to stay away from seafood for cats. Just stick to land animals.
Guess it's due to the mercury and also leads to urinary tract problems
so I have stopped buying and cat food with fish in it.

10. All good, all USDA human grade
Edited on Sun Apr-11-10 11:47 PM by Lorien
use all three. It's best to change brands every so often to keep your pets from developing sensitivities to certain ingredients. I feed my cats about six different human grade pet foods; canned, raw and freeze dried. Limit fish based foods; too much mercury and they can become fixated on them.

I also like Prairie Nature's variety (especially the freeze dried raw-they all love it), Fromm, Solid gold Indigo Moon and Merrick.

12. I usually rotate every week or so. It keeps them from getting too finicky
If Attila refuses to eat any brand of wet food you might try crumbled freeze dried raw. It's very nutritious and if he/ she is drinking enough (a pet fountain can help) it will be every bit as good for them as the canned is. You could also try sprinkling freeze dried meat treats on the canned food. Halo makes a product just for that use: http://shop.halopets.com/Natural-Treats/Dinner-Party-Chicken;jsessionid=0a0104471f434b603ebefba346c68adf92e36b519470.e3eSbNqNc38Le34Pa38Ta3aKaNj0
