I got a wonderful Mother's Day gift!
As I've mentioned in the past, I lost my poodle, Maestro, in February 2008. I adored him! He was my heart dog. I've had Ozzy, a schnoodle, for the past 10 months and I love him to pieces, but I still miss Maestro desperately.

Anyway, my Mom bought me this for Mother's Day ...

It's a "keepsake" pendant - you can put something inside it. I didn't like the idea of opening Maestro's urn and removing some ashes, so I put a few strands of his hair inside. I chose the black paw print because it reminded me of Maestro's little black feet. The chain is 18 inches long, so now a part of my "heart dog" hangs just above my heart. :)

The pendant is from 4 Paws Forever. If you or someone you know has lost a pet, you should check them out. They have some beautiful things! The money they raise helps support shelters across the country. :-)

This was Maestro, who owned my heart. :loveya:

And this is Ozzy, who fills my heart. :loveya:

1. Awww, what a sweet gift!
:hi: Thanks for the link too. What a really good idea this is. I remember when you lost Maestro.....

I have bits of hair from all the dogs I've lost. This is a great way to remember them.

2. They have some very nice things ...
I really like the "Memorial Tree" - it's a nice gift for someone who has lost a pet and it's not expensive. (Only $7.99 on sale - regular price is $15.99, which is still reasonable.) They will plant a tree in the pet's honor and the owner gets a gift card with a personal message from you, along with a map showing where memorial tree is planted. It's a nice way to keep the pet's memory alive. :-)

They vet at the emergency hospital where Maestro passed away sent me a sympathy card with some "Forget Me Not" seeds. I never planted them because ... well ... I did not inherit my grandmother's green thumb, LOL! I figured it would be very upsetting if I planted the seeds in Maestro's honor and they died, but a tree would be safe because I wouldn't have anything to do with caring for it, so I'll probably have one planted for him. :-)
