Naked Persian Pics
I had to have Sterling get a 'lion cut' because his undercoat was matted, and he developed a skin infection on his neck/shoulder. Here's some pics from this morning (unedited, just did a few quick snaps).

Before

After

Yes, go ahead and laugh. I did. But he seems to like being bare -- he is wanting me to pet him a lot more now.

1. Hey! People who laugh at pets don't go to heaven, you know...
At least, that is what my dogs tell me -

Sterling looks like he is feeling much better. It is always a relief to have figured out the problem and be headed in the right direction with treatment. :-)

2. Awww, it'll grow back Sterling, I promise.
Poor guy. Being shaved is just so undignified :P

As to him wanting to be petted a lot more, I'm sure it's a completely different sensation with stubble being rubbed than it is with a full coat. It probably feels really good to him :P

3. Awww-he looks like a sheep that's been shorn!
I had to have my fat boy Miro shaved once, and his skin was gray with black spots-he looked like a giant slug! Sterling carries it off much better, poor old boy. The only thing truly absurd looking is how disproportionate his head looks now!

I see that your guys "fling" their food when they eat, too. Miro and Puck do that also-they shake bites of food to "kill" it and end up spraying it all over the room! I also have a white floor in the kitchen, and the clean up is a constant hassle.x(

4. Yes, they make a mess with their food
I'm constantly having to clean up that area. At least they don't fling it far, it stays right around their food dishes.

My housemate was amazed to discover that Smoke is actually taller than Sterling, after seeing Sterling with no hair. When Sterling has his full coat, he looks HUGE. And now he looks so little! Even though he does weigh almost 10 pounds, opposed to Smoke's 7 1/2 or so.

5. I think he looks adorable!
So glad you found out what the problem was. Were you able to determine the cause of the infection?

My cats also toss their food all over the floor while eating, AND when they have emptied the dish, they put one of their toys into it. What is THAT all about?

6. No, don't know what the cause was
But it seems to be clearing up quickly. Oh, and the toys in the food thing? Look at this thread:

Sterling 'kills' his mice and puts them on top of the dry food.

7. When my late, great persian, Peeper, got her hair cut,
the woman at the vet's office wasn't used to clipping cats and cut Peep's like a schnauzer!. I always thought she looked so cute, and she did seem to enjoy being petted a lot, but we also discovered that she was cold, so we made her a little bed with a heating pad (under several thicknesses of blanket so it wouldn't burn) and she LOVED it. When
Sterling's fur starts growing out and gets about 1", he will look so cute and fluffy. When Peeper started getting older and had arthritis, we had her clipped all the time because it was hard for her to groom. You might want to keep Sterling's tummy clipped regularly. I think he looks sweet, and it looks like your groomer/vet did a better job than mine.

9. Oh no! My neighbor did that to their cat. He always looked embarassed.
How long until it grows back?

10. I'm not sure
This is the first time I've shaved him. Shouldn't take too long, though.

11. I had a friend who gave his Himalayan the lion cut every summer
She was a happy kitty without all that fur in the summertime.

I think Sterling looks adorable!

12. I think he is still his gorgeous self...
and, just wanted to add that my daughter has an extremely long-haired MC who she has shaved periodically. She too tells me that Precious seems to like not having all that hair. I think they can feel their owner's loving touches so much more without all that fur.

And, fur DOES grow back...LOL!
