Hijacker Help
Dad's laptop has picked up the antispyoem.com hijacker.

His Norton 360 does not detect it. I'm unable to run Spybot SD or Malware bytes on his machine.

He does not have a bootable CD.

Anybody here know how to remove this?

Or can you link me to a credible website with removal instructions?

Thanks!

1. Boot into 'Safe Mode'

During reboot, keep hitting the F8 key.
select Safe Mode with network.
Up date Malware bytes from there if you can.
SUPERAntiSpyware is good also.

Run it.

2. antispyoem.com hijacker is a symptom of the Security Suite fake anti-spyware program

Removal instructions @ Bleepingcomputer.com (MORE than credible site, perhaps the best): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-suite

Because AV Security Suite often sets your browser to use an invalid proxy, you may not be able to surf any websites.

If you are using Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options.

* Now click on the Connections tab and then the Lan Settings button.
* Under the Proxy Server section, please uncheck the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN.
* Click the OK button. Then press the Apply button and then the OK button. Now that you have disabled the proxy server you will be able to browse the web again with Internet Explorer.

If you are using Firefox, click on Tools and click the Advanced tab.

* Go to the Network tab and select Settings.
* Select No proxy and click the OK button and click OK again. Now that you have disabled the proxy server you will be able to browse the web again with Firefox.

After that update & run Malwarebytes & SUPERAntiSpyware:
Super d/l link: http://www.superantispyware.com/

Security Suite is from the same group of rogue security software as AV Security Suite, Antivirus Soft, Antispyware Soft.
