DVD burner help.
I followed through with my previous post and bought a Samsung burner. Got it today. I installed it, re-booted, got the auto config screen, hit F1 and tried to burn a disk with Nero. Failed. So I went to the device manger and found it was listed as a CD/DVD ROM device. For gods sake, it even says Super Writemaster on the DVD drawer. What gives? Using XP Pro.

1. Does Nero recognize the drive?
Nero sucks about half the time. Device manager lists CD/DVD-ROM as a category. Click on the + next to that and see what drive it actually shows. Nero complicates simple things. You have to make sure it doesn't think it's supposed to burn a CD when you want a DVD.

2. Yes.
But it calls it an: Image Recorder. It goes through the setup process but when I press burn, a save-as box opens and asks to save an image. If I click save, it tells me there isn't enough space to save.

3. I gave up on Nero many moons ago
Grab yourself a copy of Deep Burner Free from here http://www.deepburner.com/?r=download and see how you go.

4. What a guy.
Or gal. Downloaded it and it works like a dream. Soon I'll have a wide open hard drive. Burns fast too. About six minutes for 4.5 gigs. Thanks again.

5. If it says Image Recorder
then you don't have the right device selected in Nero. The destination drive should be selected, Image Recorder is the default setting-change it to the burner.

6. Well i see the issue is once again resolved by "No go download this instead"
mentality. Been using Nero for years now and over the years it has performed great. The problem was not knowing the interface and instructions it sounds like. I am never a big fan of "switching" just because i cannot figure it out the first try. hell i am surprised that you were not instructed to switch to a MAC or get Linux to solve the issue. Oy.
