About that Mz. Yellerpup...
she is such a lovely person, both inside and out! We had the most lovely conversation for nearly an hour yesterday and could have continued all day.

We found out some time ago we have people in common, and it's been a wonderful friendship ever since.

And we all have her to thank for those Frash Aigs!

Love ya, doll!

1. Hey!
I LOVED hanging out with you on the phone! What a surprise it is to visit C&B and find this message--you're so sweet. Yesterday was the first day of Mr. Pup's staycation (a 4-day extravaganza after a month of 18 hour/7 days a week at the art factory) and I bought a red Valentine's Day dress and the nastiest pair of black&red high heels you ever saw for Valentine's day. The inspiration was the pearl, red crystal & brass heart earrings you sent. We also saw "The King's Speech" which was wonderful, and then went out for sushi for dinner. I'll send photos of the new earrings when I'm all duded up. :woohoo:

You may ask what powered all this activity? Why, a frash aig omelet, of course! :loveya:

I can just see you in those beautiful duds, sounds like quite the haul just to match a pair of earrings!

Can't wait for the pics, sis! :loveya:

ETA: I am back at work today, dagnabbit.

3. My earring wardrobe is totally updated now, thanks to you.
I'm going to have to get a full time job if I'm going to keep up with the two dresses to one pair of earrings formula! I had $95 left on my Christmas gift certificate so I bought everything at Filene's Basement on Clearance yesterday. I found a Calvin Klein printed sheath (originally $123), that was marked down to $40 and then earned an extra $20 markdown at the register. The red dress, by Laundry (originally $225) was marked down to $30 and I got another $15 off at the register! I love beautiful clothes, but I like a good deal even better. The shoes were half price with no additional discount, so I still have $10 and change on that gift card! When you're ready to shop for new clothes, come visit me! Have a sweet day at work, sis!

4. Wow! Did you ever make out!
Those are fabulous deals! I'm so happy you were able to find such lovely things so inexpensively.

I don't think Filene's would have anything in my size but I appreciate the offer. I'm still working away on that, tho.

:loveya:

5. I only buy if it's a deal.
I'm happiest when it's a steal. I know you're working on a goal, when you're ready to replace stuff, come on! Clothing prices have been scandalously low in this economy. I got a $700 Badgely-Mischka raincoat for $80, for example. I stick to classic silhouettes and natural fibers to keep from getting burned, although I did buy 2 pair of Adolfo pantyhose that had no feet woven into them. They look like someone left the knitting machine going and forgot about it, then came back and said, "OMG! How long are these legs supposed to be?! Put the toes on, put the toes on!" They are ridiculously baggy in the ankles, but suitable to wear with boots or pants. Mis-sizing is the main reason designer clothes wind up in these type of places.

Yes, I'm going to take you shopping some day before too long, girl. I want to see you smile like you did on your wedding day. xoxo :fistbump:

6. But, of course, a deal is a must!
Edited on Fri Feb-11-11 06:51 PM by hippywife
Would it hurt your feeling if I told you that clothes shopping is one of my least favorite activities? It would probably be different if I were skinny. That's one of the reasons I love making these earrings...one size REALLY DOES fit all!

I will just be so happy to hug you in person and spend time talking, and ooooh! cooking together! rather than trudge through the stores...unless they are food stores for ingredients!

7. Clothes shopping is tons of fun when you are happy with
your bod--a feat that took me decades to achieve. I used to hate clothes shopping, too, but now I have fun with it. I took photos of some of your earrings 'in action' last night and will try to post them today. Where do you want them posted?

We are just downstream from the Culinary Institute. We have Asian markets where you can find anything. Fresh fish markets, too, which I know is a rarity in Oklahoma (certainly is for salt water fish). No matter what we do or when we do it, we will have a riot of fun! :loveya:

8. I don't know if I'll ever make it
Edited on Sat Feb-12-11 03:03 PM by hippywife
in my life. I have been chubby since I was a tween, so in a way I can still brag about having my girlish figure.

You can post your pics wherever you feel appropriate, m'dear. I look forward to seeing them. I just wouldn't post yet another new thread in the DU Marketplace. I'm afraid people might think ill of me, like I'm putting people up to it. LOL Maybe the either the one from where you bought them or add onto your other one or Anna's?

There are two places here for fresh fish, The White River Fish Company and BoDean's. I've been to the former but not the latter. White River is usually a special trip when we are up that way as it is on the far north end of Tulsa, and trips up that way are rare, usually heading to the salvage yard to hunt for goodies there.

:loveya:

9. White River Fish Market was my grandma's favorite
place to dine out. That market has been in business since I.T. days when they would bring in fish from the White River in Arkansas. Been there many times myself and just love it. Never been to BoDeans (prolly after my time--I've been on the east coast for 32 years come April). Gerry took the camera out this afternoon. I fell on my butt last night getting into the car to go out and ouched myself good. I will post the photos discretely when I'm able to get them off the camera! :loveya:

You are spending way too much time on the ground this winter! I hope you aren't hurt at all.

11. You see, the shoes go perfectly with the earrings.
The earrings go with both dresses. Mr. Pup asked if he really had to wait for Valentine's Day before I wore the shoes again... How could I refuse? When we left the building to go out to dinner last night, the ground between the curb and the sidewalk was churned and frozen. I didn't even know I was falling until I hit the ground. Gerry was holding my hand when I slipped and he was helpless to stop it. Luckily, I studied clowning and have so far saved myself from serious injury because I know how to take a fall. I practiced pratfalls for so many hours that my body knows how to fall all by itself.

I'll go work on processing the photos. When you see them you'll understand why I had to wear them and why I had to fall.

Glad your training keeps you from hurting yourself, often comes in handy for you it seems. ;)

ETA: Sorry y'all. Told you the two of us couldn't shut up once we got started!
