3. One of my mother's favorite stories
revolved around a barrel of sauerkraut that had gone bad and my great grandfather's refusal to admit he'd lost that much of his cabbage.

I think I have that kind of stubborn in my character too... :D I can remember sitting at the dinner table, loooong after the meal was finished, because I refused to eat something..one more than one occasion.

5. I had that figured out by the time I was five
and would stash some toilet paper in my underpants, palm the offending foodstuff, and stuff it into the toilet paper, to be fed to the dog or fertilize the shrubbery or just go down the toilet later.

Those stupid power struggles over food really limited me until I learned how to cook it all properly.
