Don't know what possessed me...
A few days ago I got this incredible CRAVING for milk...and none of your 2% stuff (my usual brew-of-choice)...I was hankering after the REAL thing.
So I splurged and bought a quart of "Vitamin D" (whole) milk. Tasted it...
Close, but no cigar. Not quite what I was really wanting...something like the richness you get in a good vanilla ice cream, but without any sweetness or other flavoring.

Hmmm...howzabout this? Picked up a pint of table cream. Just...plain...cream; no sugar or anything added.
After I got it home, put my finger in and taste...BINGO!
Knew I was on the right track. Mixed the milk and cream in a 3:1 ratio and heated it gently until it was just steaming.

Oh, man. I do not remember tasting anything quite...so...RIGHT.:9

Not something I'm gonna do on a regular basis, and honestly, I don't see that I'd WANT to...it is awfully rich (read: lotsa cholesterol).

I just enjoy being able to 'hit the spot' without too much experimentation and frustration when a weird craving turns up.

I put about a teaspoon of cream down for the cats...told them they were officially spoiled, getting CREAM.
Only Riktor appreciated it...the others gave me a "WTF?" look.
They really ARE spoiled...

1. I am a believer in giving your body what it tells you it needs.
And I am also a lover of cream!

:hi:

5. The good news about butterfat is that it's not only better
for you than hydrogenated vegetable fats, it's turning out to be slightly better for you than olive oil.

Since I've recently rediscovered my old Julia Child cookbook, this is really great news to me. That once a week butter laden French stuff I'm doing isn't quite as bad as I used to think it was.

6. Good news indeed.
My husband recently brought home some "I can't believe it's not butter light" when I asked him to pick up butter! He just doesn't get it.

2. I had a latte made with whole milk the other day
I think it's been about a year since I've had "real" milk. It was rich and thick and felt sinful. I love plain cream whipped too without sugar or flavoring....Especially on flourless chocolate cake. I've been thinking of making this for the SO for Valentines day.... For him....of course.

3. Once in a great while...

we get a pint of cream from a local dairy.
A little gets whipped as just lightly sweetened cream,
and the rest gets made into butter.

Oh..:loveya: yummmmm
sometimes you just have to let go and enjoy yourself

4. I always have cream in the house...
...because I use it in my coffee. Every day. About 2-3 T a day. With all the gustatory deprivation I have to suffer, it's my indulgence. I never thought about drinking it straight, LOL.

I remember as a child my grandmother would regularly whip cream for hot chocolate, and serve it with buttered toast. That first sip of cocoa through the layer of cream, and then a bit of toast dipped into the cup. Wow. Thanks, cows everywhere!

8. Well you just spawned a flashback
I'm recalling the milkman bringing the glass bottles with the thick layer of cream on top. I loved getting the milk out of the milk box on those cold frosty mornings when it was just about to turn icy.....

10. Hey smiley, how's it going?
Can you eat everything and all things yet? I have two spots that still just really, really hurt. My dentist says he could just grind away the bone, but that freaks me out.

I'm still on mushy foods and it been over a month. I try and eat meat and it HURTS. I think you are a week or so ahead of me.

You'd think I'd lose weight, eh? I gained 5#.

11. I'm doing better every week
I'm still not munching on crunchy food. But I'm able to bite down on a banana and I'm doing ok with shredded lettuce. I found that using those Seabond wafers especially on the lowers really helped to stabilize the plate and keep it from rubbing. I wouldn't try a steak but I can do a hamburger with half a bun if it's really soft.

I gained weight too....I went a bit overboard with the ice cream. But yesterday I put an apple in the food processor and added chopped apple bits to my shredded lettuce....So I see myself with the means to get back on the healthy eating tract...I just need to drag my will power along with me.

Well, this is our toothless life from now on...We'll be like Tim Gunn...and "Make it Work"

13. Sounds like you're doing good!
I still have my lower teeth so I think you have much more of an adjustment. Today, I tried a bigger glop of Poli-glue and, boy that made a big difference. My dentist said to just use a dot in the middle. Well a little dot just didn't keep it tight, so they kinda moved around.

I have been able to eat a burger also, one side of the bun and using a fork -- with no pickle. For some odd reason, onions, pickles and mushrooms don't work for me yet.

I find that pasta and rice work good. Turkey and chicken break down easy, but I want a STEAK and SHRIMP!

I make a bunch of different soups and always freeze leftovers, but they are gone now.

If you can handle ground meat, here's a meal that is good and filling and easy to throw together. I don't recall, I may have already told you of this 'recipe.'

Casserole bowl or dish: Layer mashed potatoes that have cooked spinach and sour cream whipped into them, then add a layer of browned pork or beef, then add a layer of cheddar cheese, and repeat that layer.

Bake @350 until hot and bubbly - about 1/2 hour.

14. I'm thinking about cooking for Valentines day
I think I may be able to eat Prime Rib but don't want to chance it in public. So I'm off to Costco sometime today to pick one up. I figure with a baked potato and some creamed spinach I'll do ok. I'll make some rich chocolate thing for dessert that I know I'll just be able to gum...or apply directly to the thighs.... Your recipe looks yummy!

15. Prime Rib - mmm!
That should work - melt in your mouth goodness.

We just got some huge immense shrimp 6-8 per pound, that I will probably have to pulverize before eating. and also have some Omaha steak fillets, but I don't know. The texture of the steak might work better than seafood.

Good eating wishes to ya! Happy valentines day, lol.

9. We have a local dairy that sells
whole milk, pasteurized but not homogenized. The cream is super thick sitting on the top. Best milk I have had in years.

12. I was gifted a gallon of whole milk straight from a Jersey cow many years ago.
After I skimmed what seemed like half gallon of cream off the top, lol, I STILL had the richest, best-tasting milk I've ever had. And the cream lasted forever, until I had used it all up in my morning coffee.
